Autumn is possibly allergic to amoxicillin

Today I picked up Nathan from school during my lunch hour and when I got to my parents house to drop him off, my mom told me that Autumn was breaking out into a rash. It wasn't too bad, so I thought maybe we could wait and see if it cleared up by the time I got home from work. Well, when she woke up from her nap and by the time I got home from work it was a lot worse! The poor girl! She was sick last week and has been on amoxicillin for almost a week and the doctor said that an allergic reaction to the antibiotics can show up even this late. She did not have anything out of the ordinary today to eat and since it is itchy he doesn't believe it is a heat rash. Also, Jeremi is allergic to amoxicillin so Autumn might also carry this allergy.

Poor thing! The doctor told us to give her Benadryl and to use Cortizone 1% cream on her. I hope it clears up by tomorrow morning or I may take her in to see Dr. Atterberry again! Luckily, it isn't on her face!

Busy, busy week. And, swim class #3 photos!

It has been such an EXHAUSTING week here, people in from Milwaukee at my work, getting ready for Baby Mania sale this Sat., Jeremi has been living at work, we had the painter here for 3 days and... surprise, surprise!! AT&T UVerse took 3 days to install our new fiber optic phone, tv with DVR AND internet (One word- IDIOTS!). I want to shop for curtains this weekend, I asked my decorating savvy friend Nicki what I should do for them and she told me about the curtains that have the circle brackets at the top and how they are in style right now. So, I think I may take a look at those because they would be simple and stylish. I'm also going to check a few places for the couch pillows such as Home Goods and Cammie suggested even Target for getting covers for my old excisting pillows. The colors look FANTASTIC (they are different from the ones I originally posted), so once I get the house back in order, I will be sharing some lovely photos of our new fancy schnancy living area!

I wanted to get a photo of me and the kids in our swimsuits- and, it didn't work out so well ;)

Me and my little princess. This is another one of her swimsuits, isn't it cute?

Autumn's class starts 15 minutes after Nathan's, so Autumn gets really antsy waiting for her turn!

Nathan is DOING TERRIFIC in swim class, the teacher did not put the floatation device around his waist at all this time. She had him jump into the pool and he swam all the way back to the edge (not the best of swim strokes, but I'll take it!)... Also, here is a photo of him with the swim noodle and the teacher threw a ball and he had to swim with the noodle to get it. He put so much energy into it and I just loved watching him, it was great!

Here are a couple of photos of Autumn with the ball they gave her in class. She loved to toss the ball then I would hold her on her belly so she could swim (with my help) to get it. We did a Humpty Dumpy routine where she would sit on the wall and then she'd fall in and I'd catch her. She is a little fish!

Not sure what is going on here ;)

Autumn getting dried off after her swim

Thank goodness the kids enjoy playing in the lockers in the dressing room, otherwise I have no idea how I'd keep track of both of them and get dressed! Getting out of the pool is my least favorite part!!

Spanking New Treadmill

It has been raining ALL weekend, and I know, I know, we need rain... but, I love to be outside in the Spring! I was planning to run with my work friend Cammie outside at Jefferson Barracks park because they have a beautiful paved trail that is 2.7 miles but the rain canceled that! Then, we have the painter coming over Monday-Wednesday so we had to get everything taken down for him and it was quite a job. We also have AT&T coming out tomorrow to install U-verse/fiber optic and we will finally have DVR! I cannot believe I have gone this long without it...

Well, on top of all of that, we went to Dick's yesterday to get my new treadmill! Yay! I settled on a $799 Livestrong model but I REALLY wanted the $999 Sole model that was right next to it because it has really good ratings with Consumer Reports, etc. I had a budget to stick to, since this is sort of coming out of my own money... Jeremi and I set aside money each week for each other which is sort of an 'allowance', and it is our own personal spending money- even though we do everything else jointly. It seems to work out well for us and we use it for work lunches, clothes, I spend most of mine on things for the kids, etc. Well, my parents were so sweet because they offered to chip in towards the treadmill that is $200 more since my Dad wants to use it when they are over at our house watching the kids. So, Jeremi went back up there and changed my order over to the Sole treadmill today- YAY! Thanks Mom and Dad! :) They are SO sweet!

Here is the treadmill I will be getting in 2 weeks, I am guessing it will be here on Mother's Day, but we'll see...

Here is a photo of it, its the Sole F63, here is the description:

You will enjoy working out from the comfort of home with this Sole F63 treadmill. Intuitive features include speed and incline adjustments on the handrails, built-in cooling fans, and a convenient blue backlit LCD display that allows you to keep track of your progress. The built-in audio system lets you work out to your favorite music.

Friday Randoms

Nathan had his pictures taken at school, and... when Jeremi and I saw them we were laughing so hard. It is SUCH a classic school picture... Why, you may ask? Well, for one, I photoshopped out the dry and crusty booger that was hanging out of his nose! Eww! Seriously, couldn't they have handed him a tissue to wipe his nose before the photo? And, look at this smirky smile he has in the photo... yes, THAT is the smile I get after he knows he has done something he shouldn't have been doing in the first place. I am sure they shot his picture infront of the other kids and it was quite an exciting event for Mr. Nathan, hence the smile... Of course, I will be doing his 4 year photos next month so I only bought a sheet of wallets of this pose because you cannot tell there is a booger in his nose when the photos are smaller. SIGH ;)

I am in the Mehlville Mom's Club and I am participating in the Baby Mania sale for the first time next Saturday! I have shopped it several times and let me tell you there is a MOB of people that come to look for baby items. I have several neighbors that have done this sale and have sold $400-600 at each sale! That is amazing! My neighbors told me that the best way to sell clothes is to use one of those outdoor tents, which are $200 if you buy them new but Jeremi can borrow a tent from his work for free. You hang up all of the baby clothes and organize them by size, gender, etc. all around the tent, and then set up card tables outside it to display rattles, toys, etc. So, next Friday night will be quite hectic because we are going to load up my CRV and then we need to be up there by 6am sharp to start setting up! Each family that is selling gets 2 parking spaces, and I think there is 177 sellers total, so it is a LARGE sale! So wish us luck that we sell TONS of clothes because they are taking over the unfinished part of our basemenet!

Also, I am SO excited because the painter is coming to our house to paint this Monday-Wednesday! After he paints I can put the new bathroom accessories and towels in the hall bathroom and I can't wait to see how it looks. We are also going to get new curtains for the living room, family room and kitchen and new couch pillows for in the family room. I have been looking at curtains online and I have this vision of what I want but I just cannot find it anywhere, so if anyone can suggest any curtain websites, that would be terrific.

I am supposed to do an outdoor run this Sunday at Jefferson Barracks park with my friend from work but it will probably rain. I will be so bummed if it does... she is going to run part of it with me and do some Pit workout and I am going to run. Also, Jeremi and I are heading to Dicks tomorrow to look at treadmills and I will probably buy one then. So, if anyone has any tips on what to look for in a good treadmill, please let me know... I am looking at the $700 range.

Today was my supervisor's last day at the company... I will miss him so much, but he landed an awesome job so I am happy for him.

I am making my famous choocolate souffle this weekend, so stay tuned for photos and the recipe... It is SO good!!!

Nathan's birthday is coming up soon and party plans are under way...

So, its definitly going to be a busy weekend!

Did I mention I am off a week next month? I am COUNTING down the days!

Autumn's First Chocolate Bunny

I have had Autumn's chocolate bunny from her Easter basket since Easter, so this weekend I decided to give her it as a special treat. (And, yes, I did brush her teeth afterwards!)

Here is her first reaction to the bunny. I am not sure if she realizes she can eat it at this point because she is cooing over how cute the bunny is

Another cute smile and chocolate bunny photo

Realizing that this bunny is chocolatey good!

First bite

This is the face she gave me when I asked her if I could have a bite, but there was no sharing of the bunny!

Bored with bunny and back to playing with her pearls

Poor Autumn woke up with a fever this morning and Jeremi got her into the doctor and she has the starting signs of bronchitis and an ear infection. Poor baby! Hopefully she gets better soon and the antibiotics kick in soon!

Beautiful Spring Weekend

It was SO hard to come back to work today after having such a beautiful and lazy weekend. I am really loving our new white fence, I love how the kids will play with their sand table and I can watch from the kitchen window and make lunch, clean, etc. I leave the screen door open so that they can come in and out of the house, and it is just fantastic! I am still trying to figure out how I am going to redo our landscaping since the fence cut through parts of it. I think I am going to have a garden in the two back corners of our yard. I need to move a lot of the perennials, bulbs and rose bushes back into our yard because the fence cut through them. SUCH a pain but it'll be worth it when I get it done... Also, Jeremi and I are planning to tear out the deck and to have a patio put in sometime in the near feature.

Autumn's sandy hand

This would have been a great photo if Nathan hadn't of held the purple flower in front of his face - oh well! :) I love these purple flowers, they are some sort of ground cover but I am unsure of the name.

Autumn loves flowers... in fact, she loves them SO much that she pulled all of the petals off of my tulips under my tulip tree! I saw her do it, and I didn't stop her... She was squealing with delight and having so much fun that I just laughed and watched. Then she held one tulip petal in her hand for an hour and just kept looking at it and then closing her fist up around it. Such a precious age of discovery!

Nathan is discovering new things this Spring, too... such as...

Worms! He loves worms, bugs, anything creepy and crawly! I was tilling the dirt around my rose bushes and he kept asking me to find him a new and different bug. I found him a slug, a roly poly and a ton of ants. He was so excited.

Our neighbors also started to plant their vegetable garden in the field behind us and Nathan saw lots of tractors and he loved watching them.

Putting Nathan to Work

Nathan is so eager to help his Mommy these days and I am taking advantage of it! Yesterday, while Autumn was napping I thought it'd be nice to clean my car out since I hadn't cleaned it out since BEFORE Autumn was born! What can I say, I have been busy! Well, anytime I say the word 'car' and 'help' Nathan is up and ready!

First I cleaned the interior windows with windex while Nathan played outside on his Big Wheel. Then, Nathan helped me scrub the inside to get all of the dust and grime off of everything. Nathan told me HE would clean on the driver's side, sure, sure... that was all find and dandy until he decided to clean the garage door opener AND hit the button in the process! This wouldn't have been a big deal if I hadn't of had the tail gate wide open... LUCKILY, no scratches but, lets just say that I took away the garage door opener after that. ;o)- Of course, Nathan loved seeing Mom jump out of the car in a panic over that one! I tell you, these kids keep you on your toes!

Then, I had Nathan pull out all of the rugs and shake them out on the driveway. He LOVED this part! Then we vacuumed them and also vacuumed the inside of the car under the rugs, the carseats, etc. I must say that I LOVE the Dyson Animal because it comes with this special attachment that gets cat hair off of upholstery... well, GUESS WHAT? It also gets itty bitty pieces of mulch out of the back of your car! The back of my car was a mess and it sucked it all right up. Hoorah!

And, this is my favorite part... everytime I clean my car out I love seeing what I can find. Well, we found 1 moldy cheese stick from Trader Joe's AND 16 french fries (3 aren't pictured because I found them after I threw these away). Yep, my car was totally gross. And remember, this is 16 months of not cleaning it... poor neglected car. I normally take my car to Waterway twice a year for interior cleaning, but somehow I have been slacking on that lately and, well, I think partially the reason was because I knew it was TOO messy for even Waterway! ;o)- Sad, isn't it?

And, of course, this wouldn't be complete without a picture of Nathan in the back. This is a really bad picture but I am not sure if you can see the shelf I have installed in my CRV but it is so cool, you can pull it out so that it covers the top and people (especially thieves) cannot see your bags, etc. in the back of your SUV. Oh, and see all of the mulch and crud on the floor? The Dyson fixed that problem!

He begged me to close the tail gate and I didn't want to do that but he promised to stay still so, yes, here is Nathan in the back of my car. Don't worry, I didn't keep him in there long, just long enough to get a picture. :o)-

Well, the sad part about all of this is that Honda gives its customers free car washes, on Saturdays and the car wash was CLOSED! So, here I cleaned the inside of my car out and now the outside is not sparkly clean. And, yes, I do clean the outside of my car quite often (hence, free car wash)... but, no free car wash this weekend! (and, yes, I stalked the place twice!) ((and, yes, I was too cheap to pay for one!)) So, no car wash. Maybe next week.

Bad Mommy Reward of the Day. Nathan has a cavity :( :( :(

Today I took Nathan to the pediatric dentist for his second checkup, and I was sort of excited because I missed his first checkup because I couldn't get out of a meeting for work. The place was amazing, it has sort of an aquatic theme to it with a huge fish tank, bubbles all over the walls, bubble design on carpet, fancy sculptures and paintings... yeah, either the dentists have a money tree growing in the back, or they make a fortune on all of clients. Did I ever say that my orthodontists name was Dr. Bankhead? Yeah, they make the big bucks.

Well, at this place, they call Nathan's name and he goes back all by himsef until they are done, then I get called back and the dentist speaks to me. Of course, Autumn was Little Miss Can't Stay Still and was ALL over the waiting room and exploring every nook and cranny. Then, I heard Nathan's done and I was handed a sheet of paper that said "Good!" really big on it, so I thought, wow, I am such a great Mother, my kid has pearly whites.

Come to a screaching halt. "Oh, Hi Mrs. S. Well, Nathan has a little cavity."

I was standing there in shock and all I could think of was... my baby has a cavity and he is not even 4 yet! What in the world am I doing wrong :( :( I felt so bad! So, then she went on to explain that she recommends laughing gas because he will probably be nervous throughout the procedure and it will help tremendously. She said its a smaller cavity on his lower molar and you can see a tiny speck. I looked in his mouth when we got home and I can't see a thing... but, then, have you ever tried to look in an almost 4 year olds mouth? Exactly.

So, it got even better... I go out to the waiting room and I am just so very depressed over the whole situation, and of course, I schedule the appointment and another lady comes up and tells me she needs to go over the fee for the cavity. $154 and that is AFTER my insurance! Boooo! Not a fun morning! But, I can't complain, the $400 ER visit (remember, the one where we *thought* Autumn ate part of a plastic spoon) was much worse ;o)-

Oh, and it gets better... I am so distraught over the cavity that I scheduled the cavity removal ON Nathan's birthday! I was thinking, oh, I am off work that week, that will be great... Yep, I get one heck of a Mommy's Reward today!

Then, I came home and called Jeremi and of course that was a fun call :o)- Because, if you know Jeremi he is even more protective then I am..

Basically Dr. Price told us that the gummy treats are the worst culprit for cavities, along with juice... Since we got our new refrigerator Nathan has been obsessed with the water dispenser so he actually drinks 85% water over anything else now, so I think what we will do is we will not keep juice in the house at all anymore (as in juice boxes). And, no more gummy treats. We do brush Nathan's teeth in the morning and sometimes at night, but I think we are going to try to limit a lot of the sweets. I will admit, I LOVE sweets, and... don't hate me... I have never had a cavity. So, maybe I was in sort of denial that my kids would be like me and never have a cavity. Boy was I wrong. :( Thankfully this is just a baby tooth so we can work harder on cutting back on the evil sugars. :(

Who would have thought he'd bring so many goodies home with him from the dentist?

I am starting to think Spongebob Squarepants is EVERYWHERE. He got a Spongebob toothbrush and stickers! And a cute little water gun toy.

Peer Pressure at 3.9075

Nathan is almost 4 years old and I could NOT believe what came out of his mouth today on the way home from Grandpa and ma's house.

Nathan: "Mommy, can you get me one of those Spongebob watches? I need one. Caroline and Hayden have one and I WANT ONE TOO."

Yikes. I can remember saying the SAME EXACT thing to my parents, but I was... maybe 12? I remember telling them I wanted a Nintendo because everyone at school had one.

So, my response? The one that my Dad told me when I wanted my Nintendo.

Me: "Nathan, if Caroline and Hayden told you to jump off a bridge, I know you wouldn't want to do that."

Nathan: "If I jump off the bridge do I get a Spongebob watch on the other side?"

Oh dear. So, what did I do? Let's just say, I see lots of Burger King visits in our near future. And, might I add, I am not a big fast food fan. Sigh. (Oh and incase you care, yes, I did get my Nintendo!)

Here is the little stinker with his watch:

First Swim Class of the Year!

After a long day at work, I came home and we all headed to the Y for the kids first swim class of the year. Nathan was so excited about swim class that he was practically bouncing off the walls with excitement. I was excited to see Autumn in her first swim class and to try out one of my new swimsuits finally! :o)-

Isn't Autumn so cute in her mermaid swimsuit? I loved the Gymboree mermaid line from last year and bought so many pieces from it! I love mermaids. Anyway, oh my... it was hard enough getting her changed into her suit, but even harder for me to get changed because she kept running off on me! Kids!!!

Of course, I had to snap a picture of the back of her suit. Cute, cute, cute!!!

Jeremi and Autumn watching Nathan in his class... Nathan's class started 15 minutes before Autumn's and ohhh... it was a long 15 minutes. Autumn wanted in that water, NOW!!

Nathan sitting on the edge of the pool. Ok, warning, these pictures are horrible... I can never take good pool pictures!

Nathan on a noodle. I really hope he can swim by the end of these classes without the flotation device, but I am not sure if 6 classes will do it. Might need to get to the pool this summer :o)-

Here I am in class with my little princess. She loved her first swim class! I must admit, it was nice to get in the pool, too!

Nathan's First Visit to BounceU

Today I took Nathan to BounceU with my coworker and her son and we had a great time. BounceU is within walking distance of my house, and yet I have never taken Nathan there! It was a lot of fun, they had two rooms and we got to spend 40 minutes in each room.

The first room was my favorite, and I think it was Nathan's favorite, too! There was a staircase that led up to a slide and he spent most of the time going up and down this slide. I must admit, I went down it at least a dozen times, too!

Jacob and Nathan at the bottom, you can tell they were having fun!

Nathan was really good about using the sack, which you needed to wear in order to go down the slide

In the next room, they had this air blast gun, which Nathan loved.

There was an air tee-ball set

Then there was the hugggeee slide and in order to get up to it you had to climb... Nathan needed a little help and I only went down it once because... well, lets just say, I am getting to old for this stuff! lol!!! Plus, I felt like I was a giant while climbing, you could definitely tell that it was built for kids because the spaces were narrow... Although, I did tell Cammie that this could possibly be good practice for the Warrior Dash! lol!

Nathan going down the steep slide

Paint Swatches

Here are the paint swatches that we are considering for the interior of our main living space and for the bathroom in the hall.

I think we are going to go with Waterfall for our hallway bathroom. Here is the shower curtain and the hand pump to give you an idea of the colors that will be in the room against the paint.

The entrance, living room and hallway will be painted the lighter color (with the paperclip on it), which is Carrington Beige.

And, the kitchen and family room (one large open space that you can see from the living room and hallway) will be painted the darker color, which is Providence Olive.

I wanted to pick a color that is somewhat neutral, just because I want to be able to change my decor without repainting. However, I wanted a little bit of green added to the neutral color (for the family room/kitchen) to show off the rug, couch pillows and curtains, so that is why we are going with the Providence Olive. I was considering Hancock Gray which is one color above it, but I am afraid it may be too dark even though it is a fairly open space. I really want the focus to be on what is IN the room, not the walls, so I think this will do.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them... painting makes me very, very nervous! ;o)-
