Patty Cakes, Part 2 (2 years later!)

I am not sure if any of my blog readers remember this, but while I was on my maternity leave with Autumn, I worked on making patty cakes for the kids. Here is the link to that blog post from January 2009, Patty Cakes - Part 1.

Well, 2 years later... we FINALLY got around to painting them! Which is great, because... I doubt Autumn could have painted hers back then! And, Nathan hated painting back then... it was too messy!

Here are the supplies... Acrylic paints, Spray Epoxy, paint brushes and the patty cakes themselves

The kids squirting their paint into the glass bowls. They almost enjoyed this as much as painting the patty cakes themselves!

The kids loved painting them

I might get some watercolors out next for the kids, they really focused and had fun painting

Here is a closeup of Autumn's. She did a really good job!

Here are the finished patty cakes! I wrote their name and age on each one. After they dried, I sprayed the clear epoxy on them and it set the paint and gave them a little bit of a shine. I should post a picture of my old patty cake that my Mom helped me make from when I was little. They are such great keepsakes!

Valentine's Day Cards

This was a quiet weekend, so I decided it was a good opportunity to get the Valentine cards out for the kids to work on. Nathan decided to do Spider man cards with Sweet tart lollipops.

Autumn did not surprise me at all when she selected Princess Valentines.

Nathan and Autumn, working on their Valentine cards at the table.

I was so excited, because last year Nathan could only write an 'N' on his cards. This year, he wrote his entire name or most of it if he wrote too big and ran out of space. I was surprised he wrote his name on ALL 24 cards, WOW! That was a lot of work!

Nathan's favorite part was putting the lollipops into his cards.

Such a hard worker!

Autumn enjoyed just scribbling on her Valentine cards.

Then, Autumn stuck her heart stickers all over her cards (instead of using them to seal the cards with). She had a lot of fun.

Once we get Nathan's list of class names, we will finish his up... I also need to get another bag of lollipops, we didn't have enough.

Baby Dolls Diapers

Autumn loves her babies... so much, that she comes to me to help her diaper them.

Aren't they cute?

Nathan gets so jealous when I am taking Auttie's picture. Its the only time he will smile for me willingly when I want a picture of him! ha, ha!

Autumn getting her babies ready to eat... We've been going downstairs a lot so Nathan can play with his electric train and Autumn has been getting into the Christmas wrapping paper. She loves to tear off pieces and use them as 'blankets' for her babies. Silly girl!

Autumn's big smile, sitting with her babies.

Mommy's Little Helper

Autumn loves to help Mommy in the kitchen... even if its just moving one pancake from one plate to another. (The binky somehow made a comeback. SIGH.)

Nathan enjoying the pancakes. He is quite a character... He said, "Mommy, your pancakes are SO good. Dad's are hard. (He microwaves the frozen kind.)" Then I told Nathan thank you and of course he had to chime in... "But, Grandma's are still the best. Sorry, Mommy!" KIDS! Maybe I should make them from scratch next time! Ha, ha!

Wordless Wednesday

I went to put my water bottle in its spot on my treadmill, and noticed SOMEONE decided to park their little micro machines there. Hmph! ;o)-

My Mom adopted a new Shih Zhu puppy on New Year's Eve. My SIL Tracy helped her name the puppy Annee, which is the French word for new year. This little girl is ONLY 2 lbs. So, so tiny!

Saying that the kids adored her is... well, an understatement!

Nathan is demanding a puppy with black and white polka dots for his birthday now. Uh, thanks Mom. He is at Grandma's house enough that this puppy should suffice.

Autumn makes the cutest little noises... coo's and ahh's while she is holding the puppy.

Jeremiah 29:11

This is my favorite bible verse right now... Its actually on a plaque on my nightstand.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jeremi and I have separated. I tried to hold out for as long as I could, I thought I could make it work somehow... I was wrong. In the end, I decided to choose happiness. I do not really want to get into the finer details, but I do know that I have boundaries and there is only so much I can tolerate as an individual... for me and the kids. I am certain I have made the right decision, even though it will not be easy.

If anyone has any advice, or if you could keep me in your thoughts and prayers, I would appreciate it. I have changed my blog to the new url, so that I have some privacy. Although, I will not be giving many details out about my situation as it is deeply personal. The new blog title is one of my favorite lullaby's, I thought it would be a nice compliment to my old blog title.
