Mommy and Daughter

I LOVE this photo where me and Autumn are both holding a doll up the same way. I am a lot older than her here, since it looks like I am missing a tooth. But, still, SO cute!

And... we both love our My Little Ponies! I have yet to bring up my big storage container of my old ones from when I was a little girl. I still have this stable and also a My Little Pony mansion!

And, here we are now! Its so fun to compare.

Nathan's Playdough Trains

Nathan goes through a lot of phases... right now he is going through a 'play dough train' phase. Everyday he wants a playdough train... Does he make these playdough trains? NO. Mommy and Grandma have been making all of them. This is with a lot of direction from Nathan, he tells us EXACTLY what he wants. Picky boy! Here he is with some of his playdough trains.

I thought this was such a cute phase, that I thought why not take photos of some of Nathan's playdough trains...

This is a FLAT playdough train

This is one of Mommy's playdough trains. Uhh, yeah, I am not as good as Grandma at making these trains. This is an Easter train. I have all these tiny little chocolate truffle molds, and I was cleaning out my kitchen cabinets that day and I thought they would be perfect for playdough shapes. So, we made an Easter train with them. Nathan did make the shapes in front of the train.

This is a candy cane playdough train, because Grandma mixed two colors of playdough together.

Can you tell who made this sad train? Mommy! Nathan is SO excited to be 5. So, of course... we made a number 5 train!

A smaller playdough train

Grandma was really busy with these... a Nathan train. Then there are boulders and worms on the ground around the trains. A lot going on here! It was an adventure driving this one from Grandma's house to my house... maybe a few wheels might have fallen off, which resulted in some tears. BTW, Scotch tape does not stick to playdough.

This is my favorite, I love the colors. I didn't do this one either :)

Here is another little playdough train.

This boy loves him some trains! And, don't set any of them up in the wrong order, because he remembers the specific order of each of the train cars, and will correct you!

Warm Day

It was a really nice and warm day on Sunday, so after church, Sunday school and grocery shopping... I let the kids outside to burn off some steam and to enjoy the nice weather! I did a little yard work, played some t-ball with them, Nathan had his trackmaster trains all rolling along the edge of the table outside... it was nice to get some fresh air! Nathan also covered a pine cone with peanut butter and bird seeds in school, so we decided to hang it up on our tree in the back.

Here is a close up of the pine cone. I am sure some birds will love this special treat!

Nathan's Valentine's Party at School

Nathan's Valentine's party at school was on Valentine's Day! How fun! Mrs. M actually took care of all of the party arrangements and all I had to do was show up! This was actually really nice, because usually she emails me a day or two before the party... and, then I am scrambling to coordinate with the other moms on what they need to bring for the party. I have A LOT going on with the divorce, so it was such a relief that all I had to do was show up at the party to help. Mrs. M baked cupcakes for the snack, and gave each kid a dollop of icing so that they could ice their own cupcake.

Then the kids got candy hearts and sprinkles to decorate their cupcake with. Here is Nathan's sweet cupcake.

Then, for the craft, she asked each parent to bring in a milk container. Lucky me got assigned to cutting off the tops of about 19 milk containers. And, WHEW, did some of them STINK! Don't worry, that is what soap and water are for! Ha!! She had the kids decorate the containers with those foam Valentine stickers. Mrs. M LOVES these foam stickers. There has not been a party yet where foam stickers were not involved.

Nathan was SO excited about decorating his milk container, that he ran out of room... and started sticking stickers inside the container.

I have to say, this gets 'Coolest Valentine Award'

Happy Valentine's Day!

I was SO excited to get a somewhat decent picture of Nathan and Autumn together for Valentine's Day. See below, I bribed them.

Such cuties :)

Ok, so the bribing part. I told them I got them Valentine gifts. :) Hey, I don't have a man to buy a gift for this year, so why not get my kids each something small! I actually returned a Christmas present that I never gave them, so it wasn't like I actually spent anything ;) Plus, Autumn has been CRYING every time we go into Target for this princess doll... I mean for MONTHS. So, she was QUITE happy to finally get her princess.

So, one of Nathan's gifts was a Hot Wheel that has a magnet in it. If you stick it on a metallic surface, and give it a little push, it will climb up it (or down it). This gave Nathan hours of entertainment... HOURS... We tried to find other metallic surfaces in the house, but sadly the dish washer was the only other household item that the Hot Wheel liked... I thought about our garage door, but I did not want to be stuck outside for HOURS. You know how you can buy that metallic paint? Maybe I should buy Nathan the entire set of cars and paint one whole wall in his room with metallic paint. UHHH, maybe NOT. ;)

And, the other toy Nathan got was a 'color shifter' Hot Wheel boat that actually floats (and it has wheels on the bottom). Again, HOURS of entertainment. I may have vacuumed the entire house, dusted the bedroom, and made chocolate souffle all while Autumn was napping and Nathan was entertained with his new Hot Wheels gadgets.

Once again, HAPPY V-DAY! Tomorrow is Nathan's class party at school, and for once Mrs. M told me to just show up! So, should be an easy party!

Valentine's Day Party at Jeff and Tracy's

Today Jeff and Tracy had us over for a Valentine's party at their house. Of course, they had a red velvet Queen of Hearts cake from Whipt Cream. I love all of their creative cakes!

The Queen herself was pretty magnificent!

Love the back of the cake, too!

We are having 50 degrees weather here in STL this weekend. Had to get a picture of Jeff BBQ'ing in the snow. I really hope the sheet of ice on my driveway melts! AND SOON!

A rare non-binky moment.

Me and Autumn. I am just missing Nathan... he was busy playing trains!

Nathan's Paper/Foil Boats

Before school, Nathan asked me to make him a paper boat. I was rushing around trying to get them out the door, and I was thinking to myself, "OH great! I've never made a boat out of paper before!" So, I did my best and I made him an itty bitty sailboat out of some scratch paper on the table. He was SO excited about it, he even wanted to keep it in his book bag while he was at school.

WELL, Nathan goes to Grandma's house after school, and when I got home from work I saw what this little paper boat evolved into... a bucket of water with lots of paper boats lined with foil.

Uncle Jeff even came over and made Nathan some paper/foil boats. Jeff used to love to make 'paper creations' as Grandma calls it when he was younger. Nathan loved all of the Jeff created boats. He even requested for Jeff to make him a submarine the next time he is over at Grandma's house.

This picture doesn't really do justice on Nathan's boats, but he has a lot of different kinds of boats. He is so excited and proud of them all! Lets just say, they joined him tonight in the tub!

Snow Fun during Autumn's Nap!

One of the disadvantages of being a single Mom is that I have to shovel the driveway. Well, I did the best I could at getting the snow off, but there is still a sheet of ice left on there. Nathan had the funnest time sledding while I worked on the driveway.

Here is our snowman, complete with eyes and a mouth made up of sweet gum balls! We just can't get enough of them! Nathan was so surprised when we left for church today that our snowman was still there! So cute :)

Hairy Elephant Haircuts

The kids both needed their hair cut, and I decided to take them both somewhere special since this would be Autumn's first haircut at a real place (my Mom did her first actual haircut). Nathan cried BIG tear drops his first two hair cuts, but Autumn just sat there and enjoyed the pampering!

And, here is the end result! The stylist cut her hair shorter, and layered it a little in the back. She is such a doll!

And, no haircut is incomplete without a lollipop at the end!

Here is a picture of how it looks in the back when it is dry. Lots of pretty curls!

Nathan was next... and, of course they had a train to sit in! He was SO excited about that!!! He's my train lover.

Then he got to pick out some scented shampoos. He selected Chocolate and Green Apple. Too bad I couldn't smell them, my nose is still stuffed up!

Haha, YES! I do take pictures of everything! Nathan was so tense while the lady washed his hair!

Nathan's stylish look!

Faucet Nose Solution

We all have colds right now, and my nose has been a faucet... to the point that I decided to stick Kleenex up my nose. Sorry, but... its the best solution I could come up with when I worked from home for 1 1/2 days while the Ice Blizzard carried on outside. Of course, Nathan wanted tissues up his nose, too. Wow, what did I start? Thankfully, Autumn is too much of a princess to sport the Faucet Nose Tissue Solution look! And, I decided not to include a photo of me sporting the look, Nathan can pull it off way better than I can, being so cute and all!

My Little Pony Lover

Autumn loves my old My Little Ponies. She loves to line them all up, so she can feed them.

She also loves to stick them on the fridge. Uh, am I the only person that did not know that My Little Ponies have magnets in their feet? I tell ya, you learn something new everyday! Isn't she precious? (Minus that darn paci!!!)

Baby Alive Excitement

I haven't been blogging all that much, mainly because January was one of the worst months I have had in a long, long time. And, I mean it. January was beyond stressful in many, many ways. But, I know I am doing what is right for me and the children, so I am hanging in there and taking it day by day. I really hope February is a better month, I really think it should be...

So, Autumns birthday was at the end of November, and one of her gifts was a Baby Alive doll that I got her. She has played with the doll, but I still needed to get the play baby food out for her to feed the doll, the water bottle and a clean diaper that would become soiled. Finally, I had some time last weekend (we stayed in because we are all fighting colds) and I set up the Baby Alive doll on the table for her. It was so funny, just the expression on her face when she saw her baby could be fed baby food and water!

Look at the huge smile that Autumn has because she gets to give her baby a bah-bah

Feeding baby

Of course, then Nathan had to join in on the fun.

Checking out the poopy diaper, I love their faces! I still have one pouch of food and one diaper, so some other time I will let her feed the doll again. I am not sure if I'll buy new food or diapers- they are SO overpriced.

Look at Autumn's beautiful natural curl from her pony tail! So pretty!
