Destin Trip, Fifth (and LAST) Day

Our last day in Destin was pretty low key... Brian and Nathan attempted parasailing again and Nathan even got a foot off the boat after being hooked up to the parachute... but, they had to call it off due to high winds. So, we spent the majority of the day at the pool, at the beach and then eating. Sounds like the perfect beach day, eh?

Me and the kids

Brian and the kids

While the boys attempted parasailing, I sat by the pool for almost 4 hours... I was probably in the pool for half of that time... It was relaxing... and nice.

The peak of the ocean that I could see while sitting by the pool. Not bad, I say... Not bad at all...

Autumn got hungry and ate chicken nuggets pool side :)

Lounging by the pool as I watch my little sweet girl make some new friends in the pool. #hiltonsandestin
And, of course you have to take a selfie while lounging by the pool!

Cheers! Beach cocktails... Next up is some beach nachos! Love lazy days like this!
Pool side drinks are a must, too!

How could I not love this adorable little face?

Getting out of the pool, such a cute, cute smile. :) I just love this girl's smile!

Ready for our last trip down to the beach... ::sniff::

I had to take a photo of our looooong shadows on the beach.

An amazing sand castle that we spotted on the beach

Playing in the sand... I think Autumn enjoyed the sand more then the ocean water!

Nathan lived for the ocean and its waves

Nathan exploring the water

A sandy bum - so cute!

Autumn's sandy little toes!

Nathan and his swim mask that he wore EVERY second.

Seagulls, of course!

Found me some seashells, including this mollusk shell.
I also looked for some seashells that last evening on the beach and I found the largest mollusk shell ever!

After coming back up to our room after the beach, we decided to go out to one last place for dinner... We went to The Back Porch...

and it was crowded, yet right on a beach so the kids had plenty to do while we waited.

I had this drink... it was their specialty punch. Words cannot describe this drink.

My meal was HUGE... HUGE!!! The kids meals were served on frisbees and they got to keep the frisbee!

Watching barrel lanterns floating above the beach as we eat dinner.  Feel like I am in the Tangled movie! So, so cool!
While eating, we saw lanterns being lit and they floated in the air and away in the distance. I felt like I was in the movie Tangled! Such a beautiful site that none of us had ever seen before and this photo does not do justice! We didn't get to bed until almost 10:00 p.m. that night (we usually get the kids asleep by 8:30 p.m.), but it was so, so worth it!

We may be driving back home today, but I have this yummy key lime pie from the Donut Hole to munch on in the car!
On our drive home, I enjoyed some Key Lime pie to go from The Donut Hole. A M A Z I N G!

We've resorted to bubble blowing in the car... Are we there yet?!
And, I may have let the kids blow bubbles in the car...

Cooped up in a hotel tonight, so Dominos for dinner is what we are having!
And, we ordered Dominos to our room our first night of driving back to St. Louis. The second night we arrived home early, because we didn't stop once in the 5 hours of driving! Hoorah!

It felt good to be back home, but we are missing the beach until next time!

And, that finishes all of my Destin beach posts... except, next week I will be sharing some of our professional beach photos!!

What Wives Wear Link Up #13 - White Tank with Melon Shorts

Welcome to the
What Wives Wear Link Up!
Week 13

We are almost in the HOT days of August... which is also my birthday month, might I add. :) I wanted to share this comfortable yet chic outfit I wore last week to the zoo with my family (thanks, Mom for taking my photos and giving BriBri a break this week!). Everyone talks about having the PERFECT white tee, but I also think having the perfect white tank is also important. A cute little white tank top can look nice with colored or patterned shorts or skirt, ankle pants, a maxi skirt, distressed jeans, etc. And, I am not talking about just a generic white tank top you'd wear at the gym, there are much cuter ones out these days with some ruffles on top, some cute little buttons (the one I am wearing has both of these).

I kept this outfit really simple when it came to accessories. I wore all solid gold (some with a little bling) accessories with this outfit to make the melon color in my shorts pop. I really love these melon colored shorts, I have gotten so many compliments on them every time I wear them!

The necklace I am wearing is from Victoria Secret and it was FREE. When I purchased two swim suits there earlier this summer, I had spent enough to get 2 free gifts and I decided upon this 'Wings' bling choker necklace and a bottom bikini piece. It was a pretty good deal! This necklace is so fun, the wings have little mini faux diamonds and the length of the necklace can be adjusted by the little round choker piece. So, I can adjust the wings on the necklace to hang down lower or up higher...

I didn't want to wear a big chunky necklace to the zoo, so this necklace was PERFECT. It is really light weight yet the little bling, bling on the wings makes it pop against my white shirt.

Then, for my shoes I wore these gold flip flops... some flip flops are great for walking in and some are NOT. These flip flops I wore all day at the zoo and my feet did not get sore. I am wearing a coral Essie polish on my toes called Sunday Funday.

We got to the St. Louis Zoo super early, we love to beat the crowds and it was a nice cool summer day, so we knew the zoo would be CROWDED later. We are zoo members, but the zoo parking lot always fills up by NOON and then you have to walk pretty far if you park on the street.

Sorry for the roots! I don't have a hair appointment for a couple of weeks, sometimes it is hard for me to fit in hair appointments during the summer... we are so busy! I think by the time I go back in August, I will just go ahead and get a Fall hairdo... my hair is a natural ash brown and I think I may go closer to that color with a hint of red. Not sure yet about the red, though! I do think I am tired of the blonde for now, though!! Are any of you thinking of changing your color up for the fall?

Here is a break down of what I am wearing:

White Tank - Old Navy

Melon Shorts - Old Navy
Gold Flip Flops - Old Navy
Wings Choker Necklace - Victoria Secret
Gold & Silver Feather Earrings -
Lace Crusted Bracelet - F21
Gold Watch - MK
Polish Color - Essie Sunday Funday

This week Lura showed us two looks.

We picked her second look because it's casual & fun
Cutoffs and cowboy boots. This is a trend that we love.
Lura kept it simple with a striped tee.
Her monogrammed necklace was the perfect accessory.

Nora was the second pick and she looked fabulous.

Nora is sharing her gold jacket with black harem pants.
She is also wearing a black top.
Her gold jewelry definitely compliments the outfit.

Master Bathroom Mirror Spray Paint Tutorial

Today I am sharing another spray paint project with you... if you follow my blog, you know that I have been working on redecorating and updating the Master Bathroom. I am going to share how I updated the mirror in our bathroom and how I changed the color of it from silver to white with a can of spray paint!

I purchased this beaded silver mirror from Target for $40. I could not find a white mirror in the large size that I needed for the bathroom, so I decided to spray paint it white!

First, apply painters tape all around the mirror.

Then tape over the mirror some large white paper... I used some oversized white paper that my daughter had painted on.

Since you are going to want to be able to paint the SIDES of the mirror as well as the front of the mirror, you'll want to prop the mirror up on something. I used plastic cups, because I had a lot of them and I didn't care if they got ruined... I could just throw them away after I finished spray painting the frame. Easy peasy!

Here is what the mirror looked like after I propped it up on top of the red plastic cups.

I did about 4 coats, letting them dry a good half hour in-between coats. Make sure you have a can of white spray paint that is FULL, if the can starts to get empty it will start splattering out and it won't give the mirror an even finish. Also, make sure you don't spray too much white paint or it'll pool into puddles on the frame which will also result in an uneven finish. I used a white satin finish... you could use a flat or glossy finish. This is what the frame looked like after the first coat.

Here is the finished mirror after 4 coats of white satin spray paint. Doesn't it look fab? If any of the white paint does somehow get on the mirror, you should be able to get it off by scraping it with your nail, or you can try to get it off with an exact knife (scrape gently, though!).

The last time I hung something, it was over our toilet and it fell off and cracked the tank of the toilet! I leave hanging 'heavy' items to Brian now... :) Here is what the frame looked like after he hung it up in our Master Bathroom! I love how chic and trendy it looks... our mirror before this one was a HUGE sheet mirror... no frame on it, nothing... I've been wanting to have a 'frame' around our mirror for awhile now! Even Autumn went 'ooohh' and 'ahhh' when she walked in the bathroom the next morning. I think everyones reflection always looks better in a pretty frame, right?!

I am so pleased with this mirror, that I can't wait to do something similar in our hall bathroom!! I don't have a whole lot left in this bathroom...

Here is the list of what remains for our Master Bathroom:

  • Paint Vanity WHITE (if you have any tips PLEASE send them my way, never done this before)
  • New Knobs for the Vanity (I've already picked these out at Lowes)
  • New Faucet (the one we have now is an antique! who uses clear knobs these days?!)
  • Towel Ring near Sink (so we can dry our hands off BY the sink)

THAT'S IT!! Then... I'll probably move on to updating/redecorating our Hall Bath!! I have a lot of other areas in the home that I plan to start on/finish, too... It will be nice to be DONE with this Master Bathroom (sooner or later).

AND, when I get this bathroom done... I cannot wait to show you before and after photos... it is really something, trust me!!! Before and after photos are always my fave, so stay TUNED!
