Motivational Monday Link Up Party - 11/30/14

Meet Your Hosts

Welcome back to another week of our Motivational Monday Link Up Party! I hope everyone had a delicious Thanksgiving and had time to reflect on everything they are thankful for in their lives. I know I am thankful for Christ, my health, my loving family, friends and the blogging community.

Day 29. So, this happened today... Our 6 year old prelit tree died 🌲😵 so, off to Lowes the hubby went and got us this new tree that is just GORGEOUS. 😍😍😍 that was of course after 2 hours of him tr

After Thanksgiving, we started on our Christmas decorating. Of course, we ran into a little trouble when our 6 year old prelit tree had several sections that would not light up. After the husband fooled with it for 2 hours, we decided it was time to go to Lowes and get a new one. I am in LOVE with our new tree, so no regrets... but, it did set me back a little on my Christmas decorating! I am excited to have a couple of friends over this Monday for a crafting session at my home and a cookie exchange. Is anyone else looking forward to any special festivities this week?

Highlights from Curly Crafty Mom This Week:

I thought it would be fun to go back and look at some of the crafts I did last Christmas. I made the kids a homemade advent calendar in two muffin tins and sealed each one with two pieces of scrapbook paper (the middle one being chalkboard paper) that I cut with my Cricut. I numbered each tin for what day of the month it was and added a little gift or piece of paper with instructions inside each tin.

I also updated my porch by tearing off all of the old decorations on our pine wreath and I purchased two mini trees that light up. I then made decorations for them out of scrapbook paper, new bows and put ornaments on them in Christmas colors.

The kids are and I had making 'Easy Plastic Snow Globes' and our 'Light Up Snowmen Ornaments'. The plastic snow globes were found at Michaels and we made top hats with the leftover chalkboard paper from the Advent Calendar. The snowmen ornaments are made from battery tea lights, so their noses light up.

Stay tuned for the Christmas crafts I have planned for this month. :)

Laundry Room Reveal from Joy in Our Home
The laundry room reveal from Kendra will knock your socks off... just in time to load them into the washer, right? ;) My favorite part of her laundry room is the shelves her husband built for everyones coats and shoes. There are multiple hooks to hang coats, bags, etc. on and the drawers on the bottom will fit several pairs of shoes. I need this in my home! She also said her husband really has no carpentry skills, but figured this all out on his own! I would say he gets some brownie points!

Daniel Wellington Classic Oxford Lady Watch Styled Casually

ChristmasPhoto
The Daniel Wellington watch is ‘a watch for every occasion’. This is a watch that you can wear on a casual day at the winery with your husband and/or friends, during a game of golf or even to the theater or a black tie event. The Daniel Wellington will always be a beautiful companion with whatever you are doing on any particular day. Daniel Wellington watches have a thin and flat face that go perfectly with leather or the thin NATO straps that you can order with them. All of their straps are interchangeable, so you could wear a leather strap one day and a NATO strap in a versatile striped pattern another day.

You can get a 15% discount on all Daniel Wellington products by using my personal code holiday_curlycraftmom, which is valid until December 31st, 2014.

DanielWellingtonByItself
I am honored to be receiving the Classic Oxford Lady watch in Rose Gold from Daniel Wellington to accompany me this holiday season. My watch is on its way, so stay tuned to see how I will style this beauty in upcoming posts. The NATO strap for this watch is pictured above in red and navy stripes, which blends flawlessly with my wardrobe.

While I have been waiting for my watch to arrive, I thought it would be fun to share an idea board of a casual outfit that you could wear with the Classic Oxford Lady watch.

Daniel Wellington Classic Oxford Lady Watch    J. Crew Pima Cotton Dress in Navy/White Stripes    F21 Faux Leather Moto Jacket in Burgundy    Train Wrapped Belted Bootie at Nordstrom    Hue Microfiber Over the Knee Boot Liners in Grey Heather at Nordstrom    Molly Suzanne Quinn Necklace in Grey

I selected a navy and white striped dress in cotton that I would layer under a burgundy moto jacket. Then, I found a pair of navy boots that would look great with over the knee boot liners in grey. Since the moto jacket adds plenty of red, I added the Quinn necklace in grey. Of course, the best part of the outfit is the Daniel Wellington watch with its NATO strap in navy and red.

This dress would also look great with a chambray shirt layered over it and tied at the waist with a necklace with a pop of red.

Daniel Wellington also offers Free Worldwide Shipping, so you’ll get 15% off with the code above AND free shipping!

Capital One 360: Black Friday Sale

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday! Now that the holiday season is upon us you may be thinking about Christmas gifts you still need to buy. Sometimes budgeting for everything in the month of December is difficult, but can be less stressful if you check out Capital One 360's Black Friday Sale. All of Capital One 360's Black Friday Sale deals are designed to encourage their consumers to keep their finances top of mind.

Capital-One

Establishing and sticking to a reasonable and responsible budget can be harder than it sounds. When Brian and I got married, he made up a spread sheet of all of our monthly bills and what was left over afterwards. Of course, each month there are unexpected bills, so we started putting a little extra money away for these into our savings. I like that Capital One 360 Checking and 360 Savings have NO fees AND earn interest. This gives me a financial peace of mind, because the money I put in is earning interest and I am not losing it due to added fees. Capital One 360 always offers remote deposit capture with Capital One 360's CheckMate tool and makes savings a snap with the Automatic Savings Plan.

What is even better is that you can earn a $100 bonus if you are new to 360 Checking when you make a $500 minimum initial deposit and five transactions. With the 360 Savings, you can also earn a $100 bonus, but also must be new to 360 Savings and must make a $1,000 minimum initial deposit.

AND, if you are already a current Capital One 360 customer, you can earn a $40 bonus per successful referral. Of course, your friend must meet the minimum initial deposit requirements and this applies to all accounts.

It is important to me to have my money at my finger tips. Capital One 360 products are online or you can access them via their mobile app. Capital One 360 is with their customers 24/7.

So, remember... once the Thanksgiving celebrations are done, be sure to add Capital One 360's Black Friday Sale to your shopping list. Visit their Black Friday Sale by clicking HERE to give yourself the lasting gift of financial peace of mind by taking advantage of Capital One 360's deals on banking, brokerage and mortgage products.

Patterned Tops - 3 Bloggers. 2 Looks. 6 Styles.

Today is all about PATTERNED TOPS. Jacqueline from JustJacq asked me to participate in her latest outfit post where 3 bloggers share 2 looks for a combination of 6 STYLES! Todays theme is patterned tops... I decided to share a top that I purchased from Stitch Fix, it is a sheer forest green with a mini gold wing print all over it.

patterned top collage

Here are my tips for styling a patterned top:

If your pattern top has buttons, wear it open or closed.

Wear it tucked in or loose. If it is loose, you can wear a skinny belt around it, which I did in the second photo and that Sarah did in her second photo.

Sometimes just a necklace can change the look of your patterned top, you can wear a longer necklace or a shorter necklace. Different colored necklaces or fancy/casual could change up the look of the top, too!

I loved how Sarah wore her patterned top with a dress in her first photo.

Jacquelyn wore her patterned top with a cardi and blazer in her photos.

Don't forget to visit Jacquelyn and Sarah for more ways to style a patterned top!

My Thanksgiving Meal Picks

Can you believe Thanksgiving is in two days?! We are lucky enough to have Brian's family and my family to celebrate, with a turkey meal on Thursday AND Friday. Last year we hosted a small Thanksgiving meal at our home, but since we aren't this year... I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite Thanksgiving drinks, appetizers, salad, sides and desserts. I am sure these will have your mouth watering and will give you some ideas (if you still need some!) before turkey day arrives.

This dip is not only skinny, but it is easy and tasty! You could use vanilla cookies, cut up fruit, etc. to serve with this tasty dip.

Salad

This has been my to go salad for Thanksgiving and Christmas (or any other festive occasion) for years now. This salad has a delicious poppy and sesame seed dressing that is made from scratch. I promise, this is a winner and everyone will be asking for the recipe.

If you have ever had the sweet potato casserole at Ruth' Chris, this is almost a copy cat version of it. This crispy pecan top looks amazing!

Motivational Monday Link Up Party

Meet Your Hosts

Hi everyone! I hope you are all having a blessed weekend! We started this weekend off on Friday night with a trip to the Old Spaghetti Factory with our daughter, who is now 6!

On Saturday morning, Brian and I checked an item off our fall bucket list and did the Beermaster Tour at Anheuser Busch. We have been talking about doing this tour for almost 3 years now and finally booked it. It was a lot of fun and we even got to drink beer that was only 1 hour old straight from the tank! Although, day drinking doesn't suit me well and I had to take a nice and long nap afterwards! LOL!

On Sunday we had ZERO plans and just took the day easy... which, is the best! Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready to party by sharing your latest DIY and crafts!

Since Thanksgiving is THIS week, I also shared a yummy Blessing trail mix in cute little cornucopias, that are reshaped ice cream cones! Lastly, I finally decided to get on the blanket scarf trend wagon and I am sharing an outfit where I mix and match plaid and aztec patterns.
