Thursday Fashion Files Link Up #11 - Blush, Fringe and Stripes

Welcome to Thursday Fashion Files!

Welcome to Thursday Fashion Files with Jill at Doused in Pink and Carrie at Curly Crafty Mom! We are excited to have you here and would love to have you link up one of your latest outfits with us.

We are always looking for Co-Hosts for Thursday Fashion Files. If you haven't signed up to Co-Host, but are interested, sign up by clicking HERE. If you have already signed up for a Co-Host spot, take note that the party is now starting on Thursday at 12:00 A.M. instead of Wednesday evening.

A couple of weeks ago I was in the mall to spend a gift card and to get my free tube of lipstick from the MAC counter (I had those 6 empty containers sitting in a bag in my car forever)... well, I decided to stop in the H&M store, because it had been awhile. :) I have had a few items I've been wanting this spring... a b/w striped dress (mostly white, because it works better for the warmer temps), a blush blouse and a tassel bag. Oh my! I lucked out!!! I decided to share all three with you today... because, they all work together nicely! And, these three pieces were under $50!! YEP! The tassel shoulder bag was actually the most expensive at $29 and the cashier gave me $10 off at the counter... I love when they do that, because I never receive coupons from H&M nor did I know they had coupons.

I decided to wear a denim jacket with this outfit, because the spring mornings have been rather cool. You'll see that since I am wearing the blush blouse over the dress, that I decided to wear a gold belt to accentuate my waist a little bit. I think this gives the entire outfit a polished look since I am wearing the blouse untucked. What I love about this blouse is that it is pretty thick, yet very sheer and you can see the stripes of the dress underneath it. It also has lace on the top portion of it and who doesn't love a little lace?

At first I thought... wow, this tassel bag is only going to work with super casual outfits, but I think it looks really nice with 'sorta' dressy outfit. I actually just wore this for Brian to photograph me in and I actually plan to wear it this Friday, because we are planning on going to the winery! Yay!

I decided to pull out the Shine necklace I purchased from my last RocksBox and oh do I love it.

I am also wearing my new Stacy Brown bangle, it is a bow in gold with my monogram on it with pink gingham. I found out about her on Instagram, which goes to show how marketing on there really works! It was really, really hard deciding on one of her bangles, but I am in love with this one! She hand paints these bangles, so I had to wait SIX weeks after I ordered it... it was so, so worth the wait!

Monogrammed Water Bottle {Silhouette Cameo Vinyl Project}

I am back with ANOTHER Silhouette vinyl monogram project. Big surprise, eh? I do promise you that the next Silhouette project I am planning does not involve a monogram, but it does involve vinyl and chalkboard paint!! So, today I am sharing how I made a monogrammed water bottle! I have been wanting a water bottle with a straw for awhile, because it is just easier when you're running outside or on the treadmill to have a straw... but, I also wanted my monogram on it! I found this cute water bottle in mint at Target and it is BPA free and even came with a couple extra straws.

I am getting pretty quick at these vinyl monograms and I am starting to build up some confidence in making them. This monogram took me only 30 minutes and I am sure with a little more practice, I could finish it in 15 minutes.

So, are you ready for a tutorial?

All you need is some vinyl, transfer paper, a water bottle and your Silhouette machine! I really need to purchase some more vinyl in other colors, but I LOVE gold... so, I'm sticking with the gold vinyl I purchased. I still have a ton of it left, you can really do so many projects with just one roll.

First, you'll want to measure your bottle to see how big you want the monogram to be on it.

Create_Go-to-Design-Store Create_Search-Monogram-in-Store
For my other two monogram projects, I used an actual font. But, for this one I went into the Silhouette Design Store.

I typed 'monogram' into the search box and it pulls up all of the monogram artwork that you can purchase. Usually the artwork is 99 cents each. My Silhouette Cameo came with a $20 gift card when I purchased it during last years Black Friday sale, so I used that to purchase the monogram artwork I wanted to use. I went ahead and purchased the entire set, because I may make these for gifts or for friends. I had to purchase more then one piece of artwork to get all of the different letters. I spent under $5.00 for the entire set.

In Silhouette, the shape will be grouped and you'll ungroup it and pull the letters in that makeup your monogram. For this particular artwork, it had the monogram with all one letter (for example, three A's)... since my monogram is CAA, I only had to delete the first A and then I placed a C from the C monogram artwork in front of the two A's from the A artwork. Whew. I hope that makes sense. :) Then, you'll size your graphic to the size you want it to be... I wanted mine to be approximately 3-3.5" height/width, so I sized it to around that measurement.

When your artwork is ready for print, you'll go to the Cut menu. Make sure that the blade on your Silhouette is set to cut vinyl and not regular paper. Also, in the cut menu you'll want to select Vinyl and Cut Edge.

Load your vinyl into your Silhouette machine and print!

Peel the vinyl away from your design

Stick the transfer paper OVER your vinyl, rub really good around the edges of your letters

Peel the paper away from your transfer paper and your design is ready to be put on the water bottle!

Place the transfer paper with your design on the water bottle and once again, rub really good around the edges of your letters and circle so you know it will attach. Remove the transfer paper.

I talked about the hook tool in my last Silhouette blog post, but it really helps you pull up the vinyl when you need to 'realign' it. This happens when you're putting the vinyl on a rounded surface, it is not going to lay perfectly flat until you pull it up and reattach it. The circle was the most difficult part to lay flat on the rounded surface without wrinkling. I have also watched THIS You Tube video and it shows a different way to apply your vinyl to a rounded surface and I think I'll try her method next time. There are just SO many tips and tricks with vinyl to make it easier.

Here is what the vinyl looks like once you have it all smoothed out on your rounded surface. Not bad, eh?

I am so excited to have this adorable bottle for my running workouts! I wasn't kidding when I said in my last Silhouette post that I just want to monogram everything!! ;)

Autumn was a flower girl a couple weekends ago and for a gift she received this beautiful flower girl tumbler. The possibilities really are endless with the Silhouette machine.

Here are my other Silhouette Projects that I have done recently:

A VeggieTales Road Trip

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Weave Made Media® and DreamWorks, but all my opinions are my own. #weavemade #VeggieTalesfun

When I picked up Autumn from school early last week for a doctor appointment, they were watching a VeggieTales movie. She was so excited to see the VeggieTales display at Wal-Mart!! 🍅🍅🍅 You can see she found two little veggies to take
Last weekend we were out of town for a wedding and we wanted to load up on some refreshments at Wal-Mart before our drive back home. We watch VeggieTales at home and my daughters teacher even plays VeggieTales movies at school for my daughters class every once in awhile. When my daughter saw the VeggieTales display, she got SO excited and couldn't decide which VeggieTales character to take home with her...

My husband and son were still in the car, since it was raining and Autumn and I were just running in the store real quick. I texted him and asked which VeggieTales character Nathan would want... can you guess?!
Nathan wanted LARRY... and the BIG Larry! So, of course... Autumn put back the two little ones she had decided upon and pulled out a BIG Larry for her to take home, too! Oh boy!

Somehow... the two big Larry's landed up in the cucumber section with Autumn... We were having WAY too much fun on a Sunday morning at Wal-Mart!

Of course, last minute... Autumn decided she wanted her original two characters again and off to the check out we went. Once we got back to the car, Nathan was delighted when he saw his HUGE Larry cucumber! You have to admit, aren't they cute together?!

Nathan even thought we should maybe buckle Larry in... since... he is so big. :)

Autumn decided on the middle sized Larry and it plays music and dances. So neat! You can see her turning it on in this photo. We listened to his tunes the entire ride home.

You'll see in this photo that the iPads are closed and the kids are snuggling and playing with their new VeggieTales characters! We had to snap one last photo before the drive home!

I am excited my kids have some toys that go together with a great show that always has a good message. My kids can sing and play all day long with their VeggieTales and my son loves using his huge Larry as a pillow at night to sleep with. There are so many shows out there these days, but I know that the VeggieTales always teaches my kids important values and helps to nourish their faith.

Motivational Monday Link Up Party - 4/27/15

Welcome back to another week of our Motivational Monday Link Up Party! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. Brian and I were sad that one of our favorite restaurants close to our house closed... so, we decided to drive to Forest Park to The Boathouse. It was too cold to sit outside, but we enjoyed a delicious meal with drinks and even warm hot chocolate cookies with milk for dinner... the amount of tulips planted on the way in was just breathtaking (why don't I have my macro lens with me when I need it?!) and the view from our table of the Post Dispatch lake (and, a little duck is photo bombing!).

The tulips have gone wild at The Boathouse! 🌷🌷🌷 Brian and I were going to have dinner at one of 'our' special places tonight close to home, but surprisingly it was closed... So, we trekked down to Forest Park, which isn't really close at Untitled

MM Party Rules

Ready to share what has been motivating you this past week? Link up a recent post of yours, something that motivates you to create or just be awesome! Our goal is for this link up to focus on craft, DIY, & home posts so please try to remember that when linking up.
  • Limit it to three links per week and remember to link directly to your post, not your blog.
  • Do not link stores, giveaways, or other link parties.
  • Be sure to hop around some of the other posts that have been linked up to share the love and get motivated by what others have been up to…because of course, this is Motivational Monday after all.
Each week, your hosts will choose a few posts to feature from the previous week. If you want a chance at being featured, you must follow all of the hosts. By linking up, you agree to let each host share your photo and link back to your site. Link party goes live Sunday 6pm PST and ends Thursday at 5pm PST.

Feel free to grab a Motivational Monday button in the sidebar to put on your own blog if you want to help spread the love!

Mother's Day Crepe Basket

Can you believe that Mother's Day is in only TWO weeks? Summer from Summer Scraps is sharing a crepe gift basket that you could make for Mother's Day by purchasing items from World Market and Shutterfly. Now... who hasn't been secretly wishing that someone would gift them with the mason jar measuring cups and spoons from World Market? I have seen so many people post these on their IG feed and I really need to drive there and buy a set for myself before they stop carrying them. And, if you know me or follow my blog... you know I LOVE crepes AND nutella. Wow, I really think this gift basket has my name written all over it. ha! (Don't feel too bad for me, I have lunch plans to go to a crepe place later this week!)
