MM Party Rules

Ready to share what has been motivating you this past week? Link up a recent post of yours, something that motivates you to create or just be awesome! Our goal is for this link up to focus on craft, DIY, & home posts so please try to remember that when linking up.
  • Limit it to three links per week and remember to link directly to your post, not your blog.
  • Do not link stores, giveaways, or other link parties.
  • Be sure to hop around some of the other posts that have been linked up to share the love and get motivated by what others have been up to…because of course, this is Motivational Monday after all.
Each week, your hosts will choose a few posts to feature from the previous week. If you want a chance at being featured, you must follow all of the hosts. By linking up, you agree to let each host share your photo and link back to your site. Link party goes live Sunday 6pm PST and ends Thursday at 5pm PST.

Feel free to grab a Motivational Monday button in the sidebar to put on your own blog if you want to help spread the love!

MM Feature

Faux Concrete Succulent Planters
Michele from The Scrap Shoppe, created these concrete succulent planters from FOAM balls. I know... brilliant! I also love the gold stripe she added with washi tape to each planter. Better yet, the succulents are fake... no watering or extra care needed!

Don’t forget to grab this button if you’ve been featured. Copy the HTML in the box below to display the button.

Also, I wanted to announce the WINNERS of the giveaways from last week.

The winner of the $120 Target Gift Card Giveaway (from HERE) is Kelly Delrosso!

The winner of the $30 Target Gift Card Giveaway and free e-book (from HERE) is Laura J.

Dove Hair: Love Your Curls - Boosting My Daughters Confidence About Her Curly Hair

My daughter and I both have curly hair in a time when flat irons and sleek straight hair is popular. On really humid days, I will see my daughter come out of the bathroom with her hair all wet. I'll ask her why it is wet and she'll tell me she was wetting down all the curly 'puffs' of hair. She asks me why does her hair do this sometimes and why doesn't this happen to other girls in her class. She is in Kindergarten and has already asked me if I can flat iron her hair like I do mine sometimes. Flat irons weren't even invented yet when I was in Kindergarten and everyone just embraced their hair when I was her age. Curly hair definitely has a mind of its own!

I was excited to share the Love Your Curls book with my daughter, which is a darling little book with poems about curly hair. These poems are inspired by real women, that have curly hair woes themselves! When my daughter and I read these poems together, we laughed and could relate to these poems! My daughter told me that maybe curly hair isn't so bad, maybe I want to stand out. And, deep down I am sort of excited that my daughter inherited my curls.

Here are some curly hair facts:
  • Women and girls with curly hair tend to feel less confident.
  • Only 4 in 10 little girls with curly hair think their hair is beautiful.
  • Only 10% of women in the U.S. with curly hair feel proud of their hair.

Dove wants all women and girls to love their curls. That is why they launched the Love Your Curls campaign, to help encourage women to CELEBRATE their curls and to inspire future generations to do the same.

Girls are more likely to feel beautiful and proud of their hair if people around them do.

Dove sent me a box of their Dove Quench products to try on my hair and my daughters hair. Did you know that one in three women in the U.S. have curly hair? NEW Dove Hair Quench Absolute products provides 4X more defined, natural curls. The three part system nourishes hair. The formulas, infused with protein, nutrients and Buriti Oil, provide a nourished, smooth finish.

Here are the products we tried:

Dove Quench Absolute Ultra Nourishing Shampoo
  • Gently cleanses curly hair, leaving it feeling soft and smooth
  • Nourishing formula leaves hair strengthened from the core
Dove Quench Absolute Ultra Nourishing Conditioner
  • Absorbs effortlessly into the hair
  • Increases manageability of curls for a smooth finish
  • Naturally curly hair is revived and strengthened from the core
Dove Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask
  • A rich, creamy formula
  • Envelopes each curl to deliver intense nourishment for ultimate smoothness and hydration
Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Crème Serum
  • Dove's first curl leave-in nourishing treatment
  • A fast absorbing, lightweight and creamy serum
  • Contains high levels of glycerine to penetrate and nourish hair
  • Can be used on wet or dry hair

Here is my daughters hair after a hot, sticky and humid day. See all those little ringlets that frame her face? See how her curls aren't really defined? We are ready to start over with Dove Quench products!

I lathered her hair up with the Dove Quench Absolute Ultra Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner. I haven't tried the Dove Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask on her yet, but I have on my hair and I LOVE it. It is a deep conditioner that you leave on your hair (I leave it on my hair while I shave my legs) for about 5 minutes and it really makes my hair silky, smooth and it helps cut down on flyaway and frizz!

Then I applied the Dove Quench Absolute Supreme Creme Serum to her wet hair.

Curly hair always does better if you let it AIR dry!

And, here was the end result... her hair is under control, manageable and no poofy flyaways in the front! She was one happy girl and so proud of her curly hair!

Do you have curly hair or a little girl with curly hair? Do you have friends or family members with curly hair? Well, be sure to share the NEW Love Your Curls book with them! It was written by best-selling author, Taiye Selasi and illustrated by Annick Poirier. It is intended to represent and inspire curly girls of all ages. #LoveYourCurls #CG

Guest Co-Host:

Grace from Color and Grace is our co-host this week. Grace is originally from China and now lives in the U.S. with her husband. On her blog she talks about her heritage and how living here has changed her views about herself, fashion, etc. and it is all quite interesting! Grace also blogs almost every day (she gives herself one day off!) and has a special menu on the top of her blog that tells you what to expect each day that week. If you don't already know Grace, you'll be sure to enjoy all of the thoughts she puts into each post AND the colorful outfits she shares.

We will each select a Top Two every week... visit both hosts blogs to see if YOU were chosen.

Johanna from 101 Things I Love shares this beautiful sherbet-colored dress that she wore on vacation. Not only do I love this dress with its stunning statement necklace, but check out that tassel-covered clutch. My, oh my... all I can say is, Target does it again.

12 Months of Drinks: May - Share a Chocolate Coke

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #ShareAtSchnucks #CollectiveBias

It is time for the drink of the month and this month I am sharing a nice cool summer drink. When I think of a summer drink, I always think of a chocolate Coke! Chocolate always makes everything better and it tastes especially good with Coke.

And, isn't it always nice to have a simple and easy recipe to share with friends when you want to sit outside during the summer?

This is How I Share a Coke with my Friends:

Making a chocolate Coke is easy, all you need is:

Coke Mini Cans

Chocolate Syrup

Whipped Cream (Optional)

Chocolate Sprinkles (Optional)

Cherries (Optional)

Pour in two tablespoons of chocolate syrup into your glass. You can add more if you want a lot of chocolate.

Get your favorite mini can of soda. I picked this one with a smiley face. :) But, I could have also used the BFF can. There are so many fun phrases to pick from!

I found my Coke mini cans in the soda aisle of Schnucks

Pour your Coke into the glass and watch all of the chocolatey bubbles form at the top. Delish!

Add whip cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top and enjoy!

Did you know you can buy your own Coke with your name on it? Check it out HERE at the Share a Coke site.

Check out some other creative ways to Share a Coke.

You learned about who I shared my Coke with from Schnucks. If you could pick anyone, who would you share a Coke with?
