May Monthly Goals

This year I've decided to set three monthly goals for myself each month. These will be lighter goals that I should be able to finish within the month. I used to do yearly resolutions, but I wanted to try out monthly goals this year. I am really enjoying it so far and I feel like I accomplished a lot with my January-April Goals. The recap for my March Goals will be at the bottom of this post.

So, here are my May Goals!

1. Organization - Organize and Clean ALL the Closets!! I like to clean out all of the closets in our house at least two times a year. I also like to clean out the linen closet, kitchen pantry and refrigerator- which I already did in April. The kids closets aren't TOO bad (for once), but I have a TON of clothes and I need to weed out some and send them to thredUP and make room for the new clothes I purchased at the outlet this Spring. Brian has a lot of clutter in his closet from leading cub scouts, camping, etc. and I want to go through that and put some of it downstairs with the rest of the camping stuff, etc. I'll also go through his clothes, he has too many crammed in the closet as well and I know there are a lot of shirts he doesn't wear anymore... especially since his work has gone ultra-casual in the last year. Cleaning closets is my BIG Spring cleaning project, after I clean them out I feel better!

2. Home - Plant Flowers and Decorate Porch and Patio. I always like to plant my flowers the weekend after Mother's Day. I have all of our porch decor out, but I would like to put some flowers in pots on the porch and maybe buy a few new decor items.

We ordered new patio furniture and a pergola and I already purchased pillows at Target to decorate our furniture with. I want to get some lights and other decor items though, to make the area homey. Our previous patio furniture is AWFUL and over 10 years old. Not sure why we waited so long to get new! We do have a fairly new patio that was poured and stamped a few years ago and I can't wait to see how it looks with the nice furniture! I also ordered a rug from Lowes and it'll look really nice on our patio!

22444442046_dbb110d192_o-23. Self Order Spring Cover (and maybe some other goodies) for Erin Condren Planner and Be More Creative with It!

Currently I use my Erin Condren Planner JUST for blogging (see my current planner in photo above) and I use Google Calendar for my real life stuff (appointments, kids stuff, etc.). I like it this way, but I feel I don't get as creative with my Erin Condren Planner as I'd like... for one, I write everything in pencil, because my blogging editorial calendar is NUTS. Things are always moving around for this or that... so, I don't see that changing, but I'd like to get a Spring cover and maybe some other items (like stickers, or sticky notes) to make it a little more fun and not so tedious! And, well... I just love paper items! :)

How did I do on my April Goals?

1. For the Home - Shop for Patio Furniture.
Done! The patio furniture was delivered today from Lowes! I'm hoping Brian can set it all up this weekend! :)

2. Health - Run Outside Once a Week
This is why I love these monthly goals... I have accomplished SO much for myself... I am running outside once a week again, it is so much more fun than treadmill running. I do love my treadmill, because I can read while on it and get my work out done quicker... But, I have been running on a trail 2 miles from my house and I was worried to run on it early in the morning, but it turns out it has a lot of other mom's running on it and older people (with dogs)... and, I feel comfortable and safe. There is just something about running outside versus inside!

3. Blog - Make an Unboxing Video
AND, I made my first video with my new Canon Rebel! I learned a lot and there is a lot I need to learn still... but, I did it! I have also been getting a lot more comfortable in front of the camera by using SnapChat daily (follow me at @curlycraftymom). It really helps! I would love for you to check out my first unboxing video HERE if you haven't already. AND, if you want to subscribe to my channel and give the video a thumbs out, I'd really be grateful. :) My plan is to keep doing unboxing videos for a year, learn a lot... and, then I want to move on to DIY/craft videos and maybe even some fashion video shoots! Fun, right?!

And, my friend Lauren from Mom Home Guide is also doing monthly goals now! What can I tell you? It's contagious! Be sure to check out her post HERE:

Are you doing monthly goals? What are they? I'd love to hear about them in the comments!

Thursday Fashion Files Link Up #59: Stitch Fix #7

Welcome to Thursday Fashion Files!

Welcome to Thursday Fashion Files with Jill at Doused in Pink and Carrie at Curly Crafty Mom! We are excited to have you here and would love to have you link up one of your latest outfits with us.

We are always looking for Co-Hosts for Thursday Fashion Files. If you haven't signed up to Co-Host, but are interested, sign up by clicking HERE.

We now have a Thursday Fashion Files Pinterest board. We will be pinning our top two picks along with our own outfits for that week. Be sure to click HERE to join our new Pinterest board!

I've been trying to order a Stitch Fix box every other month and this schedule seems to work well for me (and my budget). This box was a good one, but there were a few items that I knew I definitely didn't need/want. However, I did land up buying TWO tops and they are both AWESOME. So, this box was definitely worth it! I try not to buy more than one item per box, but these tops together were about what I usually pay for one item (since I went with denim and leggings the last two boxes).

So, what is Stitch Fix?
Stitch Fix is sort of like having your own personal shopper! You fill out a survey online (it includes photos of different outfits) and it helps them decide which outfits and which price range you fit into. They send you 5 pieces (tops, bottoms, accessories, jewelry, etc., etc.) and you decide which items you want to keep. After you've decided what you want to keep, you ship the rest back within 3 business days. If you buy all of the items you get a discount. There is a monthly fee of $20 that you will lose if you do not buy any of the 5 items. But, if you buy just one item they will subtract that $20 from your order.

And, if you sign up using my code, you'll help me earn $25.00 off my next Stitch Fix box! To sign up under me, click HERE.

Are you ready to see my items?

Items One and Two
THML Jaye Cutout Shoulder Top - $44.00 - KEPT
But from the Kloth - Diatta Cropped Trouser - $78.00 - RETURNED
I asked my stylist to send some cold shoulder or off the shoulder tops. I was glad she went with the cold shoulder option, because I just received an off the shoulder top from SheIn. This top is pretty classy for a cold shoulder top in that I even wore it to church last Sunday. There is just a 'peak' of your shoulder (and if my hair is down it covers it a little) and the fabric and pattern are more on the dressier side. What I really love about this top is the yellow lining around the shoulders... yellow is one of my favorite accent colors in the Spring/Summer! So, of course I got out my yellow tipped flats to wear with the top! I also love that the top is navy and white and not b/w, which gives it more of a lighter summer vibe.

I purchased this rainbow necklace last year at Charming Charlie. It goes with almost anything and instantly gives you a pop of color to light up your face. I get SO many compliments on this necklace when I wear it.

Outfit1_3 I'm also wearing the denim trousers that they sent me in these photos. It seems any type of pants that Stitch Fix sends, they fit SOOOO well! I want to just get all of my pants from Stitch Fix, seriously! Unfortunately, I already have a pair of cropped denim trousers, although between just you and me... I really love the pair Stitch Fix sent me more. ;) Unfortunately, I can't buy everything in the box... so, they went back! I did ask my stylist to send me some cropped pants, but I asked for them in bright colors or patterns. Oh well!

Items Three and Four
Dex Oakleigh Faux Leather Trim Blouse - $48.00 - KEPT
Toms Del Rey Lace-Up Sneakers - $98.00 - RETURNED
I was so excited to receive this floral top with a leather trim. The fit is nice in that it is forgiving around the waist and I love the trendy pleats on it. Of course, I had to pair this floral top with my scalloped shorts that I purchased from Pumps & Push Ups boutique last year. :) It really brings out the pink in the flowers!

I've had this floral necklace FOREVER, but it is SUCH a gorgeous necklace! It goes perfect with this top!

Outfit2_4 Outfit2_5
I asked my stylist to send me a pair of neutral colored lace up sandals... I got a pair of lace up TENNIS SHOES. Ummm, not sure how that happened? Oh well. I do love Toms and I am sure these shoes would be great for our trip to Italy, since we'll be walking all day long... but, it just wasn't what I was looking for. It is fun that Stitch Fix has a shoe option now, though!

Item Five
RD Style Josalyn Maxi Dress - $88.00 - RETURNED
As soon as I pulled out this dress, I knew... I didn't like it. It is probably a good thing that I don't like it, because it was way too long with flats and I doubt I'd wear this dress with heels. Anyway, just TOO many patterns and patterns I don't really like.. don't really like the colors. Don't like. Went back! I paired the dress with my fringe necklace and sandals, which was fun.

The straps on the back of the dress were kinda cool, though.

Well, that is it! I am not sure if this was my absolute favorite Stitch Fix box, but I am happy with the velvet leggings. If I can find ONE item to keep, I am happy... because, I only like to buy one item each time to keep the cost down. My favorite part is receiving a box full of goodies to try on and a lot of times I'll purchase something I would have never selected for myself... such as these velvet leggings. :)

If you decide to check out Stitch Fix yourself, please go here and sign up! If you sign up with that link, I get a $25.00 discount towards my next box. So, please sign up with that link so I can buy more clothes! ;)

My first UNBOXING Video - {Peaches & Petals - March}

Hi everyone!! Today is a BIG day here at Curly Crafty Mom, because I am sharing my VERY first VIDEO! Brian got me a Canon Rebel T6i  for Christmas last December and one of my goals this year on the blog was to start publishing some videos using my camera. Well, it has been a lot of work, but I have the video ready for you to view today!

I learned so much while filming and working in this video. I had to buy a special camera card for my camera, find a spot in the house with natural lighting, download and learn how to use iMovie for the Mac AND... I spent HOURS editing it. I really need to say 'Ummm' a lot less next time- so I don't have to edit it out a hundred times! ;) I really think filming these videos will help me to become a better public speaker and I hope to incorporate different kinds of videos (outfit shoots and DIY/crafts) later on! For my next video I want to shoot closer to my face and I need to purchase a microphone. I also want to create an intro graphic for my videos... so much to do, if only I had more time!

Please watch my video, subscribe to my channel, give me a thumbs up and share (thank you!). I would REALLY appreciate it! Also, if you have any advice or tips to help me out with future videos, leave me a comment! I'm hoping to improve my videos over time, I felt a little overwhelmed this time around! Whew!

So, here you go...

Peaches & Petals UnBoxing - March

So, a little about Peaches & Petals... Peaches & Petals is a subscription box and new to me. I am sharing my VERY first box with them in this video and I will also share what I received below with photos (if you don't have time to watch the video, or if you want more details).

What I like about Peaches & Petals is that they send you a HUGE monthly box. It isn't just beauty products, but a variety of items for women. I already subscribe to Ipsy and it is nice to receive some 'larger' beauty products such as bath bombs and also other non-beauty items, such as mugs, adult coloring books, etc.

AND, if you share your Peaches & Petals box on Social Media, they will include an extra item in your box the next month... just for sharing it! Isn't that awesome?

So, how do you get signed up?
You can use my referral code by clicking HERE and you'll also get 25% off your first box! Every box after your first box will be $19.99 per month. You can cancel your subscription at anytime.

March Items in My Peaches & Petals Box
Untitled Untitled
"Color Me Inspired" Mug with Spoon - I don't have a lot of mugs, nor do I have one with a spoon... but, this mug is just too cute not to love! I am sure my kids will love it, too! It'll be a great mug to put cereal, oatmeal or soup in!

Tri-Color Bath Bomb - I take a bath every other week and I enjoyed this bath bomb just last Sunday. I wouldn't say it is up there with my Lush bath products, but it wasn't bad. It had a pleasant scent and it was fun to watch it fizz in the warm bath water. This bath bomb didn't add any bubbles to the water, which was my only complaint.

Untitled Untitled
Colorful Surprise - This item will vary from box to box. Don't forget to share what your colorful item was! We hope you love it! My colorful surprise was this Pretty in Pink Ultra-Slim Portable Power Bank. I am so excited to receive this, it'll be great to take with me when we go to Italy this summer. It is really thin and will fit in my back pocket or in a clutch. The cord it came with doesn't plug into my iPhone, but I had one around the house that worked.

Eye Majic Eyeshadow - This is eyeshadow on an applicator that you press on your eye lid and slide it across to 'set' the colors on your lid. It came with two and I tried the first set yesterday and it really does give you a dramatic look! I plan to wear the last applicator in the evening next time for a special occassion. I did use a smudge brush to blend the colors together on the edges for a more smoky look.

Untitled Untitled
Stress Relieving Coloring Book - I was excited to receive this adult cooling book, even though I have two others around the house.

Colored Pencil Set with Sharpener - These colored pencils are too cute to put away, so I have them displayed on my desk right now. The lid even has a sharpener on it! These pencils will be great to tuck in my purse or bag with the coloring book when I'm on the go and I know I'll have some time to color on the plane, park, beach, etc.

What I Ate Book - This is a small book that lets you write down what you ate for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Snacks! It is really cute and small enough to carry with you. I plan to use it to help me to see what I eat daily and to avoid overeating sugary and salty snacks/desserts. I may also take it with us to Italy, so I can write down what we eat there (so I don't forget later when I blog about it).

Well, that's it! I haven't received my April Peaches & Petals box yet, so I will probably have that video for you in May! And, don't forget... if you want to subscribe to the box, you can use my referral code by clicking HERE and you'll get 25% off your first box!

Ipsy Review #17 - April

UntitledEvery single item in this Ispy bag is the BOMB! Seriously. I think this one of the best Ipsy bags I've ever received, or close to it!

What is Ipsy?
If you've never heard about Ipsy before, it is a mail subscription that sends you a new makeup pouch each month along with 5 products to sample. And, the kicker? It is ONLY $10 a month! It is also fun to see what others get, because not everyone gets the same products... you fill out a questionnaire and they base your products off of your answers. If you're interested, you can sign up under me, by clicking HERE and I'll earn some points to buy myself extra products. Thanks!

Now, let's review my Ipsy bag!

April Ipsy

Starlooks - Luxe Longwear Eye Pencil in Jet
This eye pencil has great pigment and just GLIDES on! You do need to use eye makeup remover to get it off, but it stays on all day! I do like to smudge it a bit after I line my eyes with it. This is my favorite black eyeshadow in my makeup box right now!
I would rate it 5/5 stars.

tarte cosmetics - LipSurgence Lip Creme in Wonder
I was excited to receive a tarte product, one of my favorite brands to receive from Ipsy! This applies easily and you can build on it to make the color brighter. It kind of reminds me of a coral color. I am wearing it in the photo above, but you can't really see the color... I put it on over my chapstick. I will definitely wear this, it is a great Spring/Summer shade. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I have a couple of tubes with a similar shade right now, but this one has more of a lip gloss texture.
I would rate it 4/5 stars.

Trust Fund Beauty - That Glo Tho Face Highlighter AND
Luxie Beauty - Dreamcatcher Tapered Highlighter Brush 522
I have been really into highlighters for the face lately! When I saw that I received a face highlighter from Trust Fund, I was so excited! Ipsy has sent me a nail color from Trust Fund a couple of bags ago and I knew I wouldn't be disappointed in it! I apply this highlighter on my forehead, cheek bones, above my lip line and on my chin. It has a little bit of glitter in it, but its not too noticeable (which I like!). Ipsy sent the Luxie highlighter brush to help blend it. I have one other Luxie brush from Ipsy (a blush brush) and these are good quality brushes! You'll see in the photo above the products I've been using on my face lately before I do a dusting of powder (I also use my beauty blender to blend the Tinted Moisturizer).
I would rate BOTH products 5/5 stars.

Moroccainoil - Moroccainoil Treatment
My hair stylist uses Moroccainoil (a spray) on my hair when she straightens it and I know the products smell great. But, this Moroccainoil treatment has been a game changer for my hair! On days that I blow dry my hair, I put this oil on my hair before I style it with my curling iron or flat iron and my hair stays so soft and sleek all day. I am going to buy this product as soon as I run out of my other oil that I use!
I would rate it 5/5 stars.

And, if we look back from a YEAR ago... this is my April 2015 box and I'm sharing what I used and what I didn't use...

Products from my April 2015 Box I've Kept or Tossed:
This Ipsy bag was pretty good, I use three of the five products regularly. These three are the Red Door Red lippy from Elizabeth Arden (its my only bright red lipstick!), the Pandora's Makeup Box Blush in Pink Carnation and MicaBeauty Eye Primer. I was using the eye primer everyday, until Ipsy sent me another primer that I liked better. I also have some Urban Decay eye primer samples that I need to use... so, I am set on eye primer for a LONG while!

The two products that I just don't use are the Mullein & Sparrow Mini Lip and Cheek Tint. It doesn't last long on the lips and I'd just rather use something that I don't have to reapply after 10 minutes. I haven't even tried it on my cheeks. As for theBALM Cosmetics Nude Dude Eyeshadow Single, I just have SO many eye shadows in a nude color already... so, I kind of forgot about it! Otherwise, it is a nice shade!

Welcome back to our DIY/Craft Link Up Party! Thank you for stopping by every week!

Time for some weekly recap photos:
Untitled Untitled
I've been working on a lot of home decor projects lately. The two big ones are the family room and our patio space out back. I went to several stores to look at pillows on Monday to find some pillows to match the monogrammed pillows I made HERE AND to find pillows for our patio furniture. The photo on the (left) shows the pillows that we purchased this weekend for our patio furniture (which is going to be delivered in a week!). I've also been hinting for Brian to get me this gorgeous sofa table for Mother's Day, I have a special spot for it in our family room... and, I've only been eyeing it at Hobby Lobby for a year now!

Untitled Untitled
I got an outside run in this week on my favorite trail right by our house, it was a beautiful day! I also have some exciting running news to share in my upcoming Currently post (unless you've already seen the announcement on Facebook!). One night this week I made Jill's (from Doused in Pink) chipotle bowl recipe!

Untitled Untitled
On Friday, Brian took the day off work and we had a day date! It was a lot of fun! We had crepes for breakfast, went outlet shopping and then stopped at a winery! Friday evening, Autumn got to plant a flower for Earth Day. The rest of the weekend was spent running errands and cleaning (boo!). I hope you had a good weekend!
