I’m back today with my July Currently post. I always enjoy updating y’all on my life happenings.
Surprises for Brian while we were in Mexico π
While I was in the Riviera Maya with Brian for four nights, I surprised him each day with something. We have both been so busy and I wanted to do some sweet things for him during our trip away with each other. One of these was I purchased online our favorite bottle of wine, that we haven’t been able to find locally for a long time. We had this wine together on one of our first dates at a winery and it is called Black & Blue. Brian had a cheese and fruit tray ordered for us (got to love 24/7 room service at these all inclusive resorts!) and had it waiting for us for when we got back from the beach. I surprised him with the bottle of wine while we were enjoying the food outside. We got a swim up pool room and I highly recommend it. Private and relaxing! If you’re wondering what the other 3 surprises were, I’ll share a couple of them with you. (One is private- ha!) I surprised him with his first massage ever, we did a couples massage. Another surprise was that I made a Wedding Album for us using Shutterstock. We got married almost 5 years ago and we had a friend as our photographer and he took all of these great photos, but I was always too busy to get them into an album. I surprised Brian with the album our first night there. Good thing the airline didn’t lose my luggage or anything, I was worried about that! lol! Anyway, it was a special trip and I’m glad my honey enjoyed his surprises!
Reading
This month I read two books!
This book flashes back between the story of two different people during World War II. Marie is a blind girl living in Paris with her father and Werner is an orphan growing up in a mining town in Germany. As the story unfolds, you find out that Marie’s father is hiding a secret about a valuable and dangerous jewel. You will find out how Marie and Werner come in touch with each other and what happens. As realistic as the ending is for this book, it still wasn’t how I had wished it would end and the ending seems so abrupt for all of the pages leading up to it. This is a long book, but Doerr’s descriptive writing is beautiful yet almost too realistic at times (there are some very sad parts in this book). I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but wished it had ended differently.
Cancel the Wedding by Carolyn Dingman
I read this book while traveling to and from Mexico and on the beach under our private cabana. It was a light and fluffy, feel good read and I recommend it as a good travel and beach book. This book is about a daughter (Jane) going back to the town her mom grew up in with her niece. While in this town, she finds out a lot of interesting tidbits about her mother’s past life. She also prolongs her stay when she falls in love with a charming man from the town. Jane finally realizes that she wants out of her exhausting job and her engagement that has no fire or emotion to it. She finally feels like herself in this small town. She also discovers why her mom wanted her ashes to be spread in this special town, even though she rarely talked about it.
Influenster Badge Prize from Sinful Nails
I have been quite lucky to receive some Badge Prizes from Influenster! These are usually given if you do all of the required social shares when you receive your Vox Box. This time… I was amazed at what I received. Tons and tons… and tons… of nail polish from Sinful Nails. Seriously, how am I going to decide on a color?! I was flabbergasted by such a great package! Thank you, Sinful Nails!
Running/Exercise
With two back to back vacations, I’ve been trying to fit in runs when I can! I am starting to feel on the fence about the Fleet Feet training this Summer/Fall and I’ll decide if I am going to train with them once I get back from Disney. I was going to do some runs in Mexico, but I realized it was TOO hot and I didn’t think the beach would be fun to run on at all. I decided to take it easy and sleep in instead. I was going to do Yoga on the beach one day, but I overslept. Can you see a trend?
Now I am trying to decide if I want to bring my running shoes and clothes to Disney. There is a fun trail between the Poly and Grand Floridian and I’m also close to the Fort Wilderness Resort and there is a couple of great trails there that I’ve never tried. Of course, my son wants to run with me and that also poses some problems since I don’t think he’ll want to run more than a mile and I run quite a bit more than that. π The photo above is of the trail map at Fort Wilderness, I took this photo last time we were at Disney. I’m a little worried we’ll get lost! Lol! Supposedly the main trail at Fort Wilderness is 2.5 miles, not sure if it loops or if its an out and back (so, a total of 5 miles). Running in new places makes me giddy!
NOW… the rest of this post is about a couple of products I’m ‘Currently’ trying… So, read on if you love product reviews (like I do!!):
Game Face Wipes
Game Face Wipes are great for staying fresh on the go! I am a runner, so I plan to keep my pack in my car! They are deodorizing and neutralize odor. They’re also great on the beach or on the plane.
You can pick from Cooling, Cleansing, Deodorizing, or Anti-Bacterial wipes.
When Face Masks (at Sephora)
I was excited to receive FIVE masks from When to try out! These face masks are sold at Sephora. All When masks contain hyaluronic acid and ginseng extracts to help keep skin moisturized and healthy.
Here are the masks I received:
β’ 10:00 PM – Anti-Aging
Contains watermelon extract and collagen to protect skin and help improve skin conditions
β’ Glamour Base – Primer (previously called Makeup Base)
Contains adenosine, collagen and peptides to help improve skin elasticity
β’ Snow Magic – Brightening
Contains niacinamide (vitamin B3) and aloe vera leaf extract for brighter, glowing skin
β’ The Last Choice- Hydrating
Contains sodium hyaluronate and saccharide isomerate to help keep skin moisturized
β’ Travel Mate – Rejuvenating
Contains chamomile flower water and Swiss Alpine herb extracts to gently hydrate and soothe skin
I decided to try the Travel Mate the day after I got back from Mexico to give my skin some relief after all of the sun it got in Mexico and the dry cabin air from the plane ride. I was really pleased with the results and I love that you leave these sheet masks on for 30 minutes! I didn’t even need to wash off the mask after 30 minutes, you rub what’s left into your skin and it continues to nourish it!
