The Diffuser Blend this month is the Autumn Days Diffuser Blend, which has a combination of essential oils in it that will have your home smelling like a crisp Fall morning. I recently purchased a larger essential oils diffuser for our family room (find it HERE), since it is such a large open space. It worked nicely at diffusing the Autumn Days Diffuser Blend throughout the room in my home.
Recipe #1: DIY Fall Scented Pinecones
There are definitely some fun Fall recipes in this month’s essential oils box! For the DIY Fall Scented Pinecones, I picked up a bag of pinecones at my local craft store. However, if you enjoy taking walks, you could grab some while you’re outside. For the DIY Fall Scented Pinecones, you’ll need 12-30 pinecones, 5 drops Coffee Essential Oil, 5 drops Cinnamon Essential Oil, 20 drops Blood Orange Essential Oil and a large sealable bag..
To make the DIY Fall Scented Pinecones:
- Go on an adventure to collect some pinecones either in the woods or a craft store.
- Clean pinecones by placing them in a bucket or sink filled with 1 part water and 1 part vinegar.
- Preheat oven to 200 F.
- Allow the pinecones to soak for 10-15 minutes, stirring them occasionally.
- Remove pinecones and place on a towel to remove excess water. The pinecones will have closed themselves due to moisture.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place pinecones onto pan so that they are not touching.
- Bake the pinecones for 20 minutes to dry them. When they are dry, the pinecones will open up and feel very light. You may notice some pinecones have not opened yet. Return those to the oven and bake until they are dry and opened.
- Place your dried pinecones into a bag. Add essential oils and seal. Keep the pinecones sealed for at least 24 hours. Remove from bag and display in a pretty bowl or combine with other dried fruit and decor. Refresh pinecones as needed.
Recipe 2: Sweet Dreams Floral Candle
The Fall is a great time to make candles, because you can collect dried leaves or petals to place in the wax to bring a little bit of the outdoors in your home. To make the Sweet Dreams Floral Candle, you’ll need 1 oz soy wax, 1 tablespoon beeswax, 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil (solid), 40 drops Sweet Dreams Essential Oil Blend, cotton wick, votive candle jar and pressed flowers/leaves.
To make the Sweet Dreams Floral Candle:
- In a double broiler, melt soy wax, beeswax and coconut oil together. Once melted, remove from heat.
- Allow the candle to cool slightly, add essential oils and stir.
- Dip the bottom of the wick into the melted wax. Adhere wick to the center of the votive candle.
- Use tweezers to dip the pressed flowers into the wax. Use the wax as an adhesive to place pressed flowers along the inside of the voice candle jar.
- Fill the jar with melted wax.
- Allow the candle to cool. Trick with to 1/4 inch and burn within sight.
