Autumn’s Dress (Currently Sold Out)
Our family recently returned from an incredible trip to London and Paris, and one of the things I was most excited about was having family photos taken at the Eiffel Tower. Since Nathan is now 20 and Autumn is 17, I know these opportunities to have all four of us together are becoming fewer and farther between, which made this session feel even more special. We met our photographer bright and early at 8:00 a.m. at Trocadéro, one of the most iconic spots to photograph the Eiffel Tower. We booked our session through Flytographer (photographers: Krystal and Giuseppe), and I’m so glad we did. It ended up being one of my favorite memories from our trip and such a meaningful keepsake. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite photos, our experience with Flytographer, and a few tips if you’re thinking about booking your own Eiffel Tower photo session while you’re in Paris.
Our Experience with Flytographer
From the very beginning, the experience was seamless. Our photographer made it easy to find him by sending a photo of himself along with a live location link before our session, so we had no trouble meeting up at Trocadéro. We started right on time, and he immediately made everyone feel comfortable and at ease.
Throughout the session, he guided us to several different spots around Trocadéro, giving us a wonderful variety of backgrounds with the Eiffel Tower. He captured photos of all four of us together, Brian and me, Nathan and Autumn together, individual photos of each of the kids, and each parent with the kids. He also mixed in both posed portraits and candid, movement-filled shots, so our gallery felt natural and full of personality.
One thing I especially appreciated was that every so often he would turn the camera around and show us a few of the photos on the viewfinder. It was so fun to get a little preview during the session, and it gave us confidence that everything was turning out beautifully.
I was also impressed with how quickly we received our gallery. Flytographer estimates you’ll receive your photos within five days, but ours arrived in just three! We were able to view and download all of the high-resolution images directly from the Flytographer website, and there weren’t any unexpected download fees or hidden costs. The entire experience was smooth from start to finish, and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
Here Are Some of My Tips
Book your session well in advance. Popular morning and evening time slots near the Eiffel Tower fill up quickly, especially during the summer. We arrived at 7:50 a.m. and started our photos at 8:00 a.m. Our photographer sent us a photo of himself and what he would be wearing, along with a live location link.
Choose an early morning session. We did ours in the morning, and it helped us avoid the biggest crowds and the hottest part of the day. The light was also beautiful.
Coordinate your outfits without matching exactly. We chose colors that complemented each other instead of all wearing the same colors. We also mixed different dress lengths. Autumn wore a shorter dress while mine was a midi dress, which added a little variety to the photos. Everything looked beautiful against the Paris scenery.
Wear comfortable shoes to and from the session. If you’re wearing dressier shoes for the photos, consider bringing them in a bag and changing when you arrive. Our photographer had a bag on him that he let us put our belongings in so that we didn’t have to set them down.
Trust your photographer. Ours knew exactly where to go for the best Eiffel Tower views and directed us through natural poses, which made the whole experience easy.
Be flexible with the weather. Paris was in the middle of a heat wave during our trip, but our early morning session kept us much more comfortable. Even if the forecast isn’t ideal, don’t let it keep you from booking your photos.
Think of it as part of your vacation experience. It’s easy to wonder if professional photos are worth it, but for me they were one of the most meaningful souvenirs we brought home.
Plan something fun afterward. We went on to enjoy the rest of our day in Paris, so the photo session felt like a fun part of the itinerary instead of taking over the day. We walked over to Carette Paris, where we enjoyed their famous hot chocolate (they even have an iced version!), fresh strawberries topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream, and delicious pastries.
Closing Thoughts
Looking back, booking this session was one of the best decisions we made for our trip. We came home with beautiful photos that capture not only our family but also one of the most memorable vacations we’ve ever taken. Years from now, I know these will be some of my favorite pictures to look back on. Travel memories fade over time, but these photos will always take us right back to that beautiful morning in Paris, and for me, that’s something truly priceless.
