Shay from Mix and Match Mama and her friend Erika host a monthly link-up where we “look” at different aspects of our lives. I participated in the series back in 2024-2025 (you can find my previous posts here!), but this year I decided to be a little more selective and only join in on the prompts that resonate most with me.

So, let’s get started… Let’s Look: What I’m Making More Time For {June Prompt}
Gilmore Girls & Creami Time

Shop These Items:
Granted, I am writing this post in the thick of summer break, so my days are a little different with Nathan and Autumn home for the summer. If you read my Summer Bucket List, you saw that Ashley and I are going to watch Gilmore Girls this summer. We’ve done pretty good so far with watching at least 1 episode a day. There are 153 episodes (7 seasons) in all, so we will be busy! I’ve found that sitting down to watch an episode during lunch and later on during my Creami time works out the best for me. If you’re asking what a Creami is, you’ll find my Chocolate Protein Frosted Creami in the photo above. I make chocolate and vanilla varieties with Truvani protein powder. They are SUCH a treat, I have one almost every day! I got the Ninja Creami machine for Christmas and it has been one of my all time favorite gifts! One warning though, it is SO loud!! You freeze the mixture and then the machine turns it into a frosted protein shake, so of course it is going to be noisy… but, it is worth it and it only takes 5 minutes. And I get 20 grams of protein and it is a simple treat without tons of sugar! I enjoy my Gilmore Girls and Creami time so much!!
Summer Running

Shop Running Summer Gear I Love:
Goodr Sunnies – Astro Guacamole Face Mask in Chartreuse
Summer running is HOT, but it is so rewarding! I get out of the house early and I get in a little exercise and some fresh air. I can listen to nature or I can turn on an audio book. I’m not training for anything in the summer, so I can run whatever I fancy for the week. It’s laid back and I love it. On Saturdays, I have a group run I join with some great ladies and that is definitely something I look forward to each week.

Being out in nature is the best!! I get to see my ‘friends’, which can be wildlife or the regulars I see out at the same time as me each morning. I’ve never gone out for a run in the morning and thought afterwards, man… I really regretted that.
New Hobbies

Shop Sourdough Supplies:
With the summer comes some time to try out some new hobbies. This summer, Autumn and I are going to each make our own sourdough starter (and we plan to name ours!) and give baking sourdough (and maybe some other sourdough recipes, such as THESE cookies) a try! I can’t wait! I’m planning to use Simply Taralynn’s sourdough starter and sourdough bread recipes.

Another summer hobby is that I want to learn how to play Mahjong. My friend Ashley told me to try the Mahjong app called Click Wood to help me get used to the game. It is SO addicting!! My mom and Brian are now playing the game too!
Patio Container Garden & Hummingbird Feeder/Swing

I love to make time for my container garden on my patio! I can look out my kitchen window or patio door and see it throughout the day and it brings me such JOY. After I run in the morning, I will go out and water everything and check to see how it is all growing.

In the past I’ve grown basil, mint, parsley, regular tomatoes, but I’ve found that I prefer sticking to peas, cherry tomatoes and strawberries. They seem to grow the best for me and what I enjoy eating the most.

Shop Hummingbird Supplies:
Last summer was the first time I added a hummingbird feeder in front of my kitchen window. OH, what joy this has given me! I love to see the hummingbirds come by in the early morning, throughout the day and before the sun sets. I added a little hummingbird swing and they will sit on it for 10 minutes at a time and it gives me great photo opps!! I love when I have hummingbird regulars… I had one that kept coming by last summer that I named Fred, till I realized he was a girl and then I changed her name to Fredalina. I have read sometimes they will come back to your feeder after migration, but Fredalina hasn’t come back yet. It is fun to watch them, they are fascinating creatures.
Books and More Books

Shop Shokz:
I have been trying to make more time to read this year, my goal is at least 1 regular book on my iPad or paperback a month and at least 1 audio book a month. It has gone well so far! I don’t drive as much now that the kids drive themselves, but I do run a lot… so I LOVE my Shokz headphones and a good audiobook!

Shop Mail Day Haul:
Then, for my hard cover/paperback book I will try and read AT LEAST 2-3 pages a day or if I have more time, a chapter. This has worked out really well for me… and then just like magic, by the end of the month I’m done! In June I plan to read The Comfort Crisis. My running coach AND Shay have recommended this book, so I figure it is a must read!
That’s a wrap!! I hope you enjoyed this post and much as I enjoyed writing it. I love sharing What I Make Time For, because it brings me joy and maybe it’ll give you some ideas on how to find a little more joy in your day to day too!!

If you’re interested in following along, the prompt for July is… Our ‘Summer Selves’. (How’s It Different?) I’d love to see you join in, it’s a lot of fun!
