If you follow me on Instagram (follow me HERE), then you know I am a Cherry Limeade Addict (CLA). Recently, I have decided to give up ALL fun drinks every Monday-Friday… yes, that includes soda, Starbucks coffee and WINE! The first week was pure torture and it made me realize how addicted my body had gotten on this JUNK. And, I don’t drink diet drinks… so, just imagine all the sugar, caffeine and calories I was digesting.
Now… I do allow myself one protein drink a day (but, I *MAY* phase that out, too) and my favorite plain jane Earl Grey hot tea (yes, caffeinated). However, this is still a HUGE improvement to where I was… and, after that first week of shell shock, I started to stop craving it… and, actually felt better. Eventually, I plan to limit myself to one sugary drink on Saturday and Sunday and eventually… I want to limit it to just one a week as a treat. I want to see a frap or a glass of wine as a TREAT at the end of a hard week, not as something I need every night. Now, our Disney trip is coming up and of course… none of these rules count on vacation. Ha, ha!
I don’t mind water… and, I find myself drinking A LOT of it during the week. My favorite way to drink water is with lemon in it, but most of the time I just drink plain cold water. Infused water is really popular these days and I wanted to try a few infused water recipes. My favorite of course was the Cherry Limeade one! Because, why can’t this CLA (remember, that stands for Cherry Limeade Addict) have a healthier version of this drink? Well, I can!
1 cup of cherries (pitted and cut up into pieces- this adds more flavor to the water)
1 cup of slices strawberries
