Shay from Mix and Match Mama and her friend Erika host a monthly link-up where we “look” at different aspects of our lives. I participated in the series back in 2024-2025 (you can find my previous posts here!). This year I decided to be a little more selective and only join in on the prompts that resonate most with me, check out my June post HERE: What I’n Making More Time For

So, let’s get started… Let’s Look: Our ‘Summer Selves’ (How’s It Different?) {July Prompt}
Summer always brings out a slightly different version of me. The routines soften, the pace slows down, and I find myself embracing simple joys that don’t fit into the rest of the year. Here’s what my summer self looks like…
My Summer Self Loves Slow Mornings

One of my favorite things about summer is how peaceful the mornings feel. Even though I still wake up early, there’s no rush to drive the kids to work or activities anymore because they’re old enough to get themselves where they need to go! I love starting the day with an early run before the heat sets in, followed by some quiet time in the garden weeding, watering my flowers, and watching the hummingbirds visit. Those simple moments have become one of my favorite parts of summer, and they’re the perfect reminder to slow down and soak in the season.
My Summer Self Embraces Flexibility

One thing I really appreciate about summer is how much more flexible our days become. With Nathan and Autumn home, our schedules look a little different, and I find myself enjoying simple things like having little outings together (like we went to the cat cafe with my mom), running errands whenever it’s convenient, trying new summer recipes or spending an afternoon baking sourdough without feeling like I need to be somewhere else. My work schedule (content creating!) becomes a little more relaxed too, and I’ve learned it’s okay if a project waits until later in the day. Summer reminds me that not every hour has to be scheduled, and I think that’s one of the reasons this season feels so refreshing.
My Summer Self Is Always Planning an Adventure

There’s something about summer that always makes me want to explore somewhere new. I love having an adventure on the calendar, whether it’s a quick day trip or a big family vacation. Right now, I’m counting down the days until our London and Paris trip, so I’ve been busy making restaurant reservations, planning outfits, and packing. I decided to splurge on the Spanx travel jumpsuit (I love the hidden pocket in the back!). Summer always inspires me to step outside my routine, make new memories, and dream a little bigger. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a suitcase to finish packing!
That’s a wrap!! That’s what my summer self looks like this year… slower morning, a little more flexibility and plenty of adventures to look forward to. I wouldn’t have it any other way! How is your summer self different from the rest of the year? I’d love to hear in the comments.

If you’re interested in following along, the prompt for July is… Our ‘Summer Selves’. (How’s It Different?) I’d love to see you join in, it’s a lot of fun!
